“I think she convinced Maria to have ice cream for supper,” I say with a laugh. “When she stays over for just a night, she gets away with a lot more than when she’s there for a few days.”

Noah chuckles. “She’s a little negotiator.”

I nod, looking out of the window at the Eiffel Tower in the distance. It’s a beautiful night without a single cloud above. The sky is littered with stars, a bowl of diamonds upended, and the winter chill hasn’t set in just yet.

Noah stops in front of the restaurant and helps me out when a valet takes the car away from us. We walk to the door, and a seating hostess takes our name for the reservation.

We’re taken into the restaurant to our table, which looks out over the Eiffel Tower.

“It’s like the place you took me to in New York,” I breathe.

“I was hoping it would be,” Noah admits.

“No matter how long I stare at it, I won’t get used to the beauty,” I say, looking out over the city and its light.

“Me either,” Noah says, but when I look at him, he’s looking at me.

I blush and smile.

A server comes to us, wearing a waistcoat and bow tie. Noah orders a bottle of wine for us. I want to say something, but I bite back a little longer.

When the server is gone, Noah takes my hand.

“You make me so happy, Raven. These past six months with you have been incredible.”

“I can’t believe how time flies. It feels like just yesterday you arrived at my apartment to save me. And at the same time, it feels like we’ve been together forever.”

Noah nods, intertwines his fingers with mine, and kisses them.

“I love you more than you know. And Ava. God, I didn’t know one man could be so lucky.”

“I think we’re the lucky ones,” I say.

The server brings the wine and pours us each a glass before setting the bottle on ice. Noah lifts his glass.

“To us,” he says.

I clink my wine glass against his but set it down again.

“What’s wrong?” Noah asks with a frown.

“I’m not feeling very well,” I say.

Noah looks worried. “Why didn’t you say anything?”

“It’s nothing to worry about,” I say quickly. “I just don’t think I’ll drink that right now.”

Noah nods. “I’ll get you something else. What would you like?”

“Just water for now.”

He beckons the server closer and orders me a bottle of water instead. The server pours it for me, and I take a sip.

“Sorry,” I say.

Noah shakes his head.

We talk about Ava, about how school is going, and how happy she is where she is now. We talk about Natalie and how well she’s doing at the New York branch. She’s thriving, and Michelle has promoted her once with another promotion in her future if she keeps working as hard as she does.
