“It’s just as it should be,” I sigh happily. “Everything worked out great.”

“It did,” Noah says.

He suddenly looks uncomfortable.

“What?” I ask. “What’s wrong?”

“I…” He clears his throat. “I was going to wait until after dinner, but my nerves are killing me.”

“Wait for what?” I ask.

He clears his throat again and tugs at his collar. “You know how serious I am about you, right?”

“Right…”

“And you know that you and Ava mean everything to me. I keep saying that I wouldn’t change anything. But that’s not entirely true.”

My stomach twists, and I immediately expect the worst. Oh, no. What is he going to say to me? Is he going to tell me he’s done, he’s leaving? He wants to move out?

“What is it?” I say, urging him to get it out so I can process whatever it is I need to bounce back from.

“I do want to change one thing.”

I stare at him, terrified. I watch as he opens his jacket and produces a little black box. He sinks to his knee next to the chair and flips the box open.

“You’re my everything, Raven. I love you with all my heart, and my life is finally complete with you in it. You and Ava. I don’t want you to be just my girlfriend anymore. I want you to be my wife.”

I stare at him, processing what just happened. He’s not breaking up with me. He’sproposing.

“Oh, my God,” I say, and tears spring to my eyes. “Yes!”

He grins at me and takes the ring out of the box, sliding it onto my finger. Everyone around us claps—they saw the whole thing. I blush hard, and Noah kisses me.

When he sits down again, he looks flush, and his breathing is a little too fast. But his eyes are bright, and he can’t stop grinning.

“It fits perfectly,” I say, admiring the solitaire diamond that winks at me.

“Ava helped me with that,” Noah admits. “She snuck one of your rings away for me.”

“That’s why she’s been fussing with my jewelry box with lately!” I cry out. “So…she knows?”

Noah nods. “I had to tell my secret tosomeone. She’s all for it, by the way.”

I burst out laughing. I can’t believe this. It’s so perfect. And it’s so cute that Noah and Ava conspired together to make this happen.

“Well, since we’re not waiting until after dinner,” I say, reaching for my handbag. “I have something for you, too.” I reach in and pull out a black box of my own. It’s narrow and long, like it holds a pen. Noah opens it and frowns at the content. When he lifts out the pregnancy test, his eyes widen.

“Oh, my God. Are you…?”

I nod and laugh. “I’m pregnant. We’re going to have another baby.”

He looks shocked before he starts grinning.

“The wine,” he says, looking at my glass.

I nod again, giggling.

He jumps up, grabs me, and kisses me.
