Anna gasped. “Jessup.”

“Is that not true, miss?”

Her shoulders fell. “Yes, it’s true.”

“I think it will take all of us to keep her out of trouble,” Zachary said.

Jessup smiled. “I agree.”

He snorted when he caught the pout on Anna’s face. It was extremely adorable, but she would come to find out it wouldn’t work on him.

“What do you want to show me first?” Zachary asked.

“The backyard. Mr. Bates is the one who takes care of it, so if you have any questions, ask him.”

Close to two hours later, Anna stood in front of a closed door. He knew it was next to her office because she’d just shown him. The house was great, and he loved how he and Anna had already started to plan to construct a master suite upstairs. They planned to use two of the many rooms and make it a sanctuary for them when they were home.

“Why are you so nervous?” he asked her.

“I’ve got a surprise.”

He pulled her against his chest. “No matter what it is, everything will be okay.”

She hugged him tightly before turning and opening the door.

He looked around the area. The room was bigger than her office and was bare except for the wooden shelves and a small fireplace on the wall adjacent to hers. There was no color on the walls, no curtains, no furniture, and carpet.

He turned to her. “What is this place, baby?”

“This is going to be your office.”

His eyes widened. “I don’t need this much space, and I planned to work on your office’s sofa.”

“You don’t want to do that. When I’m trading, I tend to mumble a lot. It drove my father nuts. There are plenty of rooms in the house, and I felt you needed your own space. I want you to design your own office.”

He looked around in shock. He never expected this.

“I want you to feel like this is your house, too. One of the girls gave me the idea of you designing a few rooms and putting your stamp on the place.” She gnawed on her lip and pressed her hands together in front of her. He could tell she was nervous.

He smiled and pulled her against his body. “Thank you, baby. This is overwhelming but in a good way.”

“I’m glad.” She squeezed his waist. “I have another surprise.”

“I’m not sure I can take anymore.” He grinned.

She snickered and took him to the corner of the room in front of the shelves. When she pushed on something, the bookshelves opened like a door.

“This goes to my office. If you put your desk by the back wall like mine, we’ll be able to see each other.”

Zachary walked over and looked at the construction. He would never have known it was there unless she told him. “Is this new?”

She nodded. “Yes. There’s a lock on your side, so you can lock it if you need privacy.”

“I will never need that. I want you to be able to come to me whenever you need to,” he said.

“So, you’re okay with this?”

He wrapped his arm around her waist and looked around the room. “I love everything about it. Thank you, baby.”
