Fuck, he knows. I swallow, eyes watering. “I don’t know what I saw…”

He stays silent, letting me know I can continue when I’m ready.

“Two years ago, I had a vision that when I became Queen, Hell would fall under my reign. Hell… actually turns into hell. Fire everywhere, palaces collapsing, souls escaping Hell… It wasn’t good.” I whisper the last part. Since I turned sixteen, I have developed the ability to see the future. The next in line to reign always does.

My father nods. “Then you left because of it?”

I look up at him, tears threatening to fall. “If Hell is set to fall under my reign, why would I accept the throne?”

He circles me. “But you came back?”

“Hell… is set to fall under Derrick’s reign too.” I close my eyes, sighing. “Hell will fall no matter what, but I don’t know how we can stop it.”

My father nods. “We will have to tell the other courts of Hell, so they are aware.”

I nod.

“I have a vision myself, diaboli,” he says, pacing.

I cock a brow, waiting for him to continue.

“I had a vision of what you need to do next. You need a court of people who will protect you.”

My eyes roll. “I don’t need protection. I can—”

“You also need to learn how to protect yourself better.”

Looking up at him, I try to figure out what he means. My father can’t teach me how to fight like he did when I was a kid. Well, even then, he had trained people who taught us. “What was the vision, Father?”

“Hell is set to fall, no matter what, my child. I saw you with a team of men who would die to protect you.”

I blink. I know no man who would even get a cut to protect me, let alone die. “I don’t need men to protect me. I can figure out how to protect myself.”

He sighs. “Anima Messorm Academy. You were wearing the uniform. Hellhounds protect you when you claim the throne, diaboli.”

I look down. “You think I should go to Soul Reaper Academy?”

My father touches my chin and lifts my head. “Head up or your crown will fall… I am giving you the okay to go to the academy to save Hell.”

“How do you know it will save it?”

My father shrugs. “You won’t know, if you don’t try.”

I feel like my father is holding information from me, but I can’t tell what and I doubt he will tell me.

“Plus, you’ve always wanted to go… But tonight, we will feast as a family again.” He smiles at me, tousling my hair.

For the next few minutes, I take my time looking at the changes inside the house, there isn’t much. Then I go to my room. It is the way it was when I left it, besides the small child crying on my bed. My younger brother, Fenric, sits up, eyes wet with tears. “Are you going to leave me again?”

I push on my bottom lip, rushing to him and wrapping my arms around him. I am a sucker for kids, especially him. We were inseparable when I was around. “I’ll be starting school, but we will have visits often. Okay?”

He burst into tears, hugging me. He was ten when I left, and now he’s just shy of thirteen. “We missed you.”

I kiss his forehead. “I missed you too.”

“You’re going to the academy?” Derrick’s voice comes from the open door of the room.

“Mhm,” I hum, looking at him.
