“Oh, weird. Me too,” I tease.

Asura smiles at me, and I return it. Her smile is too fucking pretty… I push her silver hair back and pull her lips back to mine for a moment. “Good night, princess.”

She licks her lips, probably still tasting mine. “Good night, Ledge.” She moves up the stairs and I watch for a moment before turning to go back down. “Ledge, your jacket!” I almost hear her start back down the steps.

“Keep it, baby girl,” I shout and close the stairwell door behind me. She already has a nickname for me, but then again, she has one for everyone. I’m not special. I am just a low-level demon that happens to be a hellhound guardian. I wish I would have met her sooner. She could have been my Soul Reaper, obviously having a better point of view of us as hellhounds than Khazon does.

The sound of falling rock fills the air and it makes me turn to the noise. Behind me, my home, the palace of Hell, is burning. The flames are hotter than any flame in Hell has ever been. My eyes burn with tears as I watch every brick fall against the ground, tumbling into the canyon below.

I turn to see Hell. In the distance, I watch as Lucifer’s castle breaks apart in the same fashion, making me sob out, “How do I fix this?”

“The war is coming faster than you think,” my own voice says to myself.

War? Is this still the future for my home? Death and destruction? I left Hell with the vision of this happening if I took the throne. Hell will fall under my reign.

But then, the day before Khazon came for me, I had the same dream, but watched it as it fell under Derrick’s reign.

No matter what… Hell will fall.

My eyes flutter open, staring at the ceiling from my bed. My dad said heirs always have visions, sometimes in the form of dreams. He said that they will always come true, and we have to deal with the aftermath. When I asked if he has ever been able to change a vision, he simply shook his head.

Sitting up, I glance at my phone, seeing it’s almost time to get up. I roll out of bed and decide to shower. Going to the bathroom, I see Ledger’s jacket on the sink. I wonder if he’s up…He did give me his number yesterday before the restaurant, but how desperate will I look if I text him? Closing my eyes, I see that reaper’s blood-spattered face and how Ledger would have killed him for touching me. All night, I have been playing us having sex over and over in my head.

I open my phone, biting my lip. Just as I send the good morning text, his icon pops up and starts typing. He’s up. I set my phone down, waiting impatiently for the phone to go off.

The heir, me, isn’t known for dating anyone. Even in Earthbound, I didn’t care to date any humans.

My phone dings just as the water in the shower starts getting hot.

Ledge: How many times did you orgasm to me last night?

I snort.

Me: Too many times to count. You?

It wasn’t exactly a lie.

Ledge: I lost count too… Good morning, though. Didn’t actually think you’d text me.

Me: I almost thought about blocking you, but I think you can be useful to have around.

I set the phone down to get ready for the day. I take my time showering before I get out to text Ledger and get dressed. I didn’t feel like wearing a skirt, so I opt for the ugly black khaki pants. I roll them up at the bottom, just above my boots. I put on my button-down and then Ledger’s windbreaker jacket. I let my silver curly hair do whatever it wants to do and leave it down for now. I grab my bag before moving out of the dorm room.

Ledge: Breakfast?

Me: Read my mind. Going now.

I don’t beat the hellhound to breakfast, but I find him with a group. Our eyes meet and he nods to the seat next to him, which is open. I bite my lip and grab food before moving to their table and confidently sit next to Ledger, who shifts for me to have enough space.

“You said no one can sit next to you!” one of the hellhounds whines across the table, slamming down his fork.

“Yeah, and?” Ledger grumbles, making me look up at him. Fucker moved his friends for me?

“Rude… I thought we had something!” he teases.

Ledger lets out a sigh. “Hazen, Benson, and Gibby, meet Asura.”

The guy who was whining leans in. That is Hazen. His silver-blue eyes wander up and down me. “Oh, I see why you’re all giddy today.”
