“Do you… like him?”

“Which one?” I tease. I like them all. I like Ledger, Hazen, Jigsaw, and even Inarian’s rude ass. Although, Hazen and Ledger are the only ones that checked in on me after… “Hey, Dad?”

He looks up at me.

“What happened when you picked me up? Did she… say anything?”

He looks down at the pie. “No, not really. Why?”

I shrug. “Just wondering. You’ve been acting weird.”

He cocks a brow. “How?”

“You mentioned your hellhounds. You never do that.”

It’s silent as he stares down at the food. “You don’t like learning about my hounds? I know I’m old, but I thought it could help you get your hounds by talking about mine.”

“Were the hounds I’ve talked about in your vision?”

He smiles lightly at me. “The faces were blurry. Sorry, diaboli. Help me carry this stuff out.”

I nod.
