Hazen is waiting for us at the diner he invited us to, saving a spot in the booth. Once we get close, he stands, hugging me. Smelling his cologne, I smile right into his sternum. “Hazen, this is Fenric. Fenric, Hazen,” I say when I finally come up for air.

When Hazen pulls back, he bends to shake Fen’s hand. I thought the height difference between Hazen and I was ridiculous. “What’s up, little man?”

“Hi,” Fen says, a bit shy. He leans in and whispers, “Asura says you eat kids when you’re hungry. You look like you do, so is that true?”

Hazen sends a smirk my way. “No…Only the bad ones.”

Fen’s gray eyes widen but there’s a smile on his face. “I’m good then, Asura is not…”

Hazen looks up and down my body, making sure that Fen can’t see his eyes as he does so.

I snort, pushing him into the booth. “Okay, sit down.”

Fen sits on the inside as I take the outside side while Hazen sits across from us.

“How was your dinner last night?” Hazen’s icy blue eyes lock with mine. I know he know some of it, but he seems to know more.

“Good! Dad made the dessert,” Fen answers.

Hazen smiles. “How good was it?”

I let Fen rumble about the dinner and how much fun he had meeting the hounds. After a few minutes, Hazen waves someone down.

When I twist to see the person, our eyes meet. His lime green eyes are rolling at me.

“Jiggie,” I say with a smirk as he gets closer. He’s dressed in all black again with chains everywhere and combat boots on. His black hair falls messily over his eyes.

He sends a glare. “Hazen, I thought it was just us.” Then he looks at Fenric. “You have a kid?”

I cackle. “No! He’s my brother. Fenric, meet Jigsaw.” Fen reaches over and holds out his hand.

Surprisingly, Jigsaw takes it with his gloved hands and shakes his hand.

I hold out my hand for him to shake, but he ignores it. “I already know you. Where am I going to sit?”

I look at Hazen and see that he takes up most of the booth, so I tap Fen and say, “Go sit by Hazen.”

Fen ducks under the table, climbing in between the wall and Hazen.

I scoot over, tapping the seat next to me.

Jigsaw grumbles before squeezing in with me. Hazen flashes a grin as a lady comes over to take our order.

“The usual guys?” She looks at Hazen. Hazen nods. Then she looks at Fen. “And what can I get you?”

Fen looks at me. “Cookies and Cream milkshake?”

“Make it two.”

“And to eat?”

“Get them the same as us, please,” Hazen says. “They’ve love it.”

I narrow my eyes on him as she walks away. “Mhm. I’m trusting you.”

Hazen looks down at his phone and texts someone just as Fen starts to talk about his day.

My phone buzzes in my pocket. I pull it out and look down.
