DAMON

My office smelled like a by the hour motel—cigarette smoke and stale beer. It was tough using the garage as both a business and club house, hopefully it wouldn’t be too long and we’d have a separate place for my boys to kick back and relax. I’d only been back for a few days, and already I had that itch to get back out there searching again. I’d been over the letter she left too many times to count, and still nothing jumped out.

I wanted the distraction and coming into work was just what I needed to take my mind off things. I had weeks of catching up to do. As much as I loved Madden, his eye for detail when it came to business was severely lacking. The weeks I’d spent chasing her arse around the state had left me with a mountain to climb back home. The club side of things my right hand could handle, but the shop—the front for our club, well it was suffice to say Madden knew nothing.

The final finishes were due to be wrapped up within the next week. Everything kind of fell into place after we rescued Phee. The property that had belonged to the Ducane family up by the lake had been placed on the market shortly after both Ducane brothers went to ground. So using a shell company, I’d brought it for a steal. When the keys were handed over, the first thing we did was demolish the fucking bunker that sick psycho held Phee captive in.

No one needed a reminder of the shit she’d been through or what we’d discovered. It would have been beneficial for us to have kept some of the cells down there for storage, but I couldn’t do that to Phee or any of her boys. With Jonah as a prospect, I knew she’d be coming to the club house and she definitely didn’t need the shit keeping them would bring.

“I got that package you wanted D,” Jonah said. The fucker didn’t even knock as he entered my office, something I’d have to correct after all this shit was finished.

A white envelope hit my desk, causing the paperwork that I had been working on for the last hour to go flying across my desk. Raising my head I watched as he took a seat in the chair opposite me. The cocky fuck looked pretty smug as he kicked up his feet and leant them on my work space.

“Care to explain?” I asked him, scowling at him as I leaned across the desk and pushed his legs off. Scooping the envelope up, I carefully emptied its contents. Black and white eight by tens fell into my lap. I hoped this was what I’d been waiting on for his sake.

I’d tasked Jonah with two jobs; the first to track down the lowlife scum Alexander Ducane. I needed to find him for two reasons. The first to keep tabs on him. I wanted to know his every fucking move. Where he went, what he ate, who he was with, hell I even wanted to know when he took a shit. If he could find where this fucker was, then that would help him with the second job I needed him to do—help locate my princess. I knew for certain if we could find that rock spider, then we’d find my princess. It’s what I should have done in the first place.

“It took me some digging and I had to call in a favor, but I’ve managed to track Alexander to the Dolls House and the Lion’s Den in Claymore,” he replied. Sitting up straighter, Jonah reached over and picked up a couple of the pictures. The first showed the fucker in question entering what I’d only presumed to be a front for some shady underground sex club, the second I know was an underground fight arena. The boys and I would sometimes head to the Lion’s Den when we needed to let off steam, the place was shady as fuck, but the payouts were what kept us coming back, that was until the new owners took over. “My contacts have informed me that he visits this place three to four times a week.”

“Thanks man,” nodding at him as I flicked through the other picture. There were several photos, outside some apartment block, others of the asshole meeting up with several people I didn’t recognise, but the one that caught my eye was the one where he appeared to be yelling at someone that had their back to us.

“There’s more Damon,” The way Jonah sounded had my eyes snapping up to meet him. His adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed. I could tell he was nervous. “He knows about Kyle. Knows that Stryker had him all that time and that he is dead, and he knows that someone is after him. Alex has been meeting with all sort of shady fucks this past week. I think he is getting ready to disappear again.”

“What do you mean?” Even as the question left my mouth, I knew he had more information for me. Jonah’s transition into my club hadn’t been easy on him. He’d been torn between his relationship with the girl I saw as a sister and his newfound loyalties with the Scorpions. “Jonah, I know you’ve been struggling with the dynamics of club life and your relationship with Phee, but whatever you're debating in your head just spit it out.”

“I promised Stryker, I’d give him some info too Damon, Phee is going out of her mind not knowing anything,” Worry etched his usually calm features. I didn’t quite understand the dynamics of their relationship, there would be no way I could share my girl like he does, but it seemed to work for them and it made me happy to see them happy.

“You leave Stryker to me Jonah,” I reassured him. “I am meeting up with him and his dad later today, I won’t drop you in it, but you need to remember the club always comes first.”

His eyes balked at my tone. Granted it was a little harsher than I’d intended it to be, however it needed to be reiterated if he were to be patched in at the next club meet. After all he had agreed to be part of this even if it was on more of an in the shadows type of arrangement. Twinkle toes needed to man up and realize that.

“She’s there,” His words were absolute. Picking up another picture, he pointed to a group of young people about our age, standing outside some run down roach motel, the kind that housed drug dealers and junkies. Not the usual place you’d find Paige in, but sure enough, there in the middle was my princess, to the trained eye, you’d say she was having fun, but the smile she wore never quite reached her eyes. “Looks like she’s assembled a team to help her D. From what I can tell, given the information I was able to dig up, they are all staying at this place, using it as a homebase of operations.”

That wasn’t too smart of my Princess, she was too focused on her end goal and leaving herself open to being discovered. Focusing in on the picture, I recognised some of the crew she was with. Cian that fucker had known all along where she was and had lied to all our faces.

We’d questioned him when Paige had originally fallen off the radar, because he was the last person to have seen her, telling us that he only saw her come and go from the warehouse. I should have seen it coming and not taken his word. Making a mental note of this, I’d be bringing this up with Killian at our meeting later. That asshole hadn’t been completely straight with me.

“She is using an alias as well,” Jonah continued, his voice more serious now. “They have been following both the Ducane brothers, but it hasn’t gone unnoticed and her cover may have been blown. I think she is in some real danger Damon.”

That caught my attention more than anything else he had said. It had my heart racing. It was clear from what Jonah had told me earlier, that Alexander would be wanting blood for what happened to his son. Hell, he had wanted it even before the fuckers untimely demise. But just knowing that there was a possibility he would go after Paige, compounded everything tenfold.

My chair scraped against the floor as I stood from my desk, picking up my phone, I dialed Stryker’s number. The meeting with the Lennox’s was about to be brought forward. I’d be needing more help than I was willing to ask for, bringing this to the table would mean I wouldn’t need too.
