He stared at me.

“What?I know what I saw, and you telling me that ain’t what I saw, so I don’t knowwhat else to say. Is that the same girl whose house you left a bag at?At least that’s what she called and said today.”

His eyebrows went together.“Princess, I ain’t been nofuckin’ where with another woman. I don’t know where you got that from.”

“That’s what she called and—”

“And ain’t no bitch kissed me in my mouth.”

I sighed before grabbing myphone andpulling upRyan’s Instagram. Clicking through the story, I turned my phone toward him.

He squinted at the phone and then took it out of my hand. “Girl, please. We sealed adeal, and she kissed my cheek. Me and Ryanare going to design the softwarefor one of her new companies. That’s it.”

“Hmph.Okay.” I picked my knife up again.

“Drop it, Princess!”

I sighed with an attitude. “Mr. Dymon, I am trying to eat.You said what you said. I have no choice but to believe you, so—”

“Oh, you have a choice. You really don’t believe me?”

“Well, why didn’t you come home?If it was just a kiss on the cheek, or it was just about designing some software, why didn’t you come home?” Icouldn’t hold my tears back any longer. “What was that about? Like, I’ve been blowing your phone up, and you didn’t answer. You didn’t know if I wasokay,or I didn’t know if you were okay. All that for me to see you in a club in New York, when you didn’t even call me.Then here comes this woman calling me about a bag you left at her house. It’s all good, though.”

He stared at me.“The fuck does that mean, Quinci?”

“It means that if you can do what the fuck you want to do with no consequences, then I should be able to do whatever the fuck I want to do with no consequences.”

“You got mefuckedup. You know what… go do it. Do whatever thefuckyou want to do.And see what happens. Youactinglike you forgot what happened the night of the fair.”

I shifted in my seat. The thought of his large hand swatting my ass turned me on, and I didn’t want to think about it because I would’ve caved.

“Okay, Mr. Dymon.”

Gathering my plate and glass of wine, Iclimbed off the chair.

“Where yougoing, Quinci?”

I ignored him and went into the den to finish my meal alone. The whole time I ate, I kept staring at the picture, trying to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me, or was Dymon messing with my head. The longer I stared at the picture, the more it looked like she was kissing him on the cheek, but then I’d blink, and it would look like she was kissing him on the mouth, so I set my phone down to finish eating in peace.

A part of me wished that Dymon would havecomeinto theden, but he didn’t. When I was done eating, I went to go look at the picture one lasttime, but it was gone, and there was one new one added at the end. It was him, Ryan, and the mystery woman standing in the middle with a man behind her captioned, Alwaystake the clients out to celebrate.Shoutout to Mr. and Mrs. Fields on joining the team. I rolled my eyes to the ceiling because, if the woman’s husband was there the whole time, then he could have said that instead of driving me crazy. Or, he could have picked up the phone. So, he was still in hot water.

Walking in the kitchen, he eyed me as he sat at the bar tearing my food up, smacking like he ain’t ate in weeks. In my mind, I was doing backflips because he loved my meal. I’d been telling him that I could cook, but never did. When I looked at the pans on the stove, it was empty.

“Quinci, this shit good as fuck,” he complimented me, but I ignored himas I washed my plate and silverware.

“You really about to act like that, Quinci? Seriously?I told you I wasn’t getting kissed in the mouth. And I didn’t leave anything at a woman’s house.”

I raised my eyebrow in response, walking right by him.

He chuckled before picking up his glass of water, taking a big gulp of it. “You’regonnaregretthat shit. Believe that, Princess,” he spoke lowly.

Not if I don’t come back and don’t call you letting you know where I am!

I wanted to scream that at him sobad, butignoring him was what got him going.
