“Here you go.” She handed me back my phone.

“Alright. See you all back at work.”

Leaving the table, I heard Fiona mumble something under her breath, but I wasn’t going to give her the satisfaction. She knew how to speak to me like an adult, and until then, there wouldn’t be any communication between us.

That Evening

I was in the middle of cooking the lamb that I’d been letting marinatefor the last few days. My mouth’sbeenset on it since I’d put it in the refrigerator. It had the whole penthouse smelling like a five-star steakhouse. After it had marinated, I covered it in a garlic crust. It was going to have the right amount of crunch. It was going to be paired withroasted potatoes and carrots and a wedge salad covered in blue cheese crumbles and onions.

The smell of the kitchen and rumble of my stomachalmost made me forget that it was nearly seven, and Dymon’s ass still hadn’t walked throughthe door. I hadn’t called him since that phone call earlier, and I wasn’t going to call him anymore. It was what it was, but I knew I would be going home tonight after I came from the 40/40 club.

After pulling the lamb chops out of the oven, I heard the ding of the elevator. Almost immediately, my heart started bouncing in my chest. I missed him, but I was stillpissedat him.

“Goddamn, Chef. You got it smellinggood as fuckin here,” Dymon complimented without knowing who was in the kitchen.

I stood at the stove admiring my handy work.

“Damn, Quinci. Thisyourdoing?”

I ignored him as I moved to the cabinet to get a plate. If I looked at him, I’d cave. The scent of the food was no match for his scent. He smelled fresh as if he’d just sprayed on some of his cologne.

“Quinci?”

Continuing to ignore him, I fixed my plate.

“You’re angry?”

That did it.

When I turned to looked at him,my lips slightly fell apart at the sight of him in acrisp jet-black suit. There wasn’t a hair out of place on his face or his head.Shit. He almost looked better today than the day he did when he left out of here.

“Did I do something?” he asked while pulling at the knot in his tie.

I had to hurry up and turn around before I gave in and not even told him about thebullshithe was on. When I was done fixing my plate, Iwalked around him standing by the island, and sat at the bar where I had already refilled my glass of wine.

He stood in front of the bar with his hands resting flat onthe island. He leaned in.“Quinci, if you don’tfuckingtalk to me, I know some.”

He hated to be ignored. He could ignore me all day, but I ignored him for two seconds, and he wanted to throw a fit.It was only a matter of time before he pulled out the big gun that I wouldn’t be able to ignore.

“Princess,” he called me as soon as I picked up my knife to cut into my lamb.

I dropped the knife and looked at him. “Yes, Mr. Dymon.”

He’d really fell into his role as my Dom. The more power I gave him, the more he loved it.Hell, I loved it. He knew he could control with the snap of his finger, yet he hardly did it, but when he did… it was special. He hardly spanked me, but when he did… he did. That night after the fair, he spanked meso hard, yet so delicate at the same time. The pain he inflicted upon me had me begging him tofuckme, but he’d left me hanging. And dared me to touch myself again. It was the best pain I’d ever felt, and he knew it too. We both knew that wewere treading near murky waters, and I didn’t think he cared as much as I did.

“Why the fuck are you ignoring me?”

I inhaled and exhaled slowly. “You were supposed to come hereyesterday, and you didn’t. And then you all on Ryan’s IG story letting a bitch kiss you in yourfucking mouth!”

“Am I yelling at you? Why are you yelling at me?And ain’t no bitch kissed me in myfucking mouth. I don’t know what you think you saw, butthat wasn’t it.”

“Okay.”I picked up the knife again.

“I’m not done talking to you, Princess.”

“Okay.”
