“Are you fine, though, Mr. Dymon?”

Before I could respond, the waitressappeared with our food.

“Here are the appetizers,” Millie announced, but then her smile slowly faded when she sawQuincilookaway andwipeher eyes.

I waved my hand, letting her know that she was okay.

“Baby, haveyou ever hadescargot?”

“Yes, but you can’t just drop something like that on me and then move on.”

“There is nothing left to say. You asked me a question, and I answered it.”

“But if you parents didn’t like you,why were you chosen to run the business, I mean…Declan and Diesel…” She gasped. “Oh my God. Is that why…?”

“Look at you. Your mind moves a mile a minute.”

I picked up my glassand took a sip of thedrink. It burned all the way down, but it was what I needed. I forked one of the escargots and fed it to her.

“Oh my God. That tastes so good. Did you choose this menu?”

“I approved it, yes.”

“More, please.”

Without a second thought, I fed her.Just like she got off on me dominating her, I got off on catering to her. When I read her Chokers application, saying that she wanted tobe nurtured, I didn’t quite understand until I really fell into the role the night of the fair. It felt good to make her feel good. When she took a sip of her wine, her eyes lit up.

“Now that tastes really good. You made a good choice. Wine goes straight to my girl, andwhew…you might not be able to keep up.”

I raise my eyebrow. “You think so?”

“I know so.Would you like some crab cake?” She fed me.

“Now, if you’re such a black sheep, why did they pick you to run the company, then? Over your brothers?”

“Diesel recommended me over him, and my dad looks to Diesel for everything. He’s just not a good businessman, and Dad knows it too. He’s the family member who got the job because he’s in the family, not because he knows what he’s doing. He wouldn’t survive a month in my position.”

“You should let him do it. Maybe he could,or maybe he’ll realize thatyour father made the right choice, choosingyou.”

“His pride wouldn’t ever let him admit it.”

“That seems to be theDanger way.”

“What does that mean?”

“I think you know.”She took a big swig of her drink.

One thingI didn’t like was how she could read me like adamnbook.

Nearly two hours later,we were walkinginto the club.I shook out of my jacket, while Quinci opted to keep hers. Dinner was great, and theconversation flowed even greater. Listening to some of the ideas she had for her family’s businesses was sexy, and at the same time, saddening because they still hadn’t told her that they were about to lose the grove, and I could tell that it wasreally importantto her.

“Oh, this place isniceee,” Quinci blurted after we walked through thecurtain. “I don’t know what your vision for this place was, but it was executed perfectly. You have a good eye for stuff.”

It was set up like a lounge that had a bar. Couches, chairs, and tables were all over. Music was played at level where you wouldn’t have to talk loud. It was the perfect environment to chill.

“Thank you, baby. Wouldn’t be executedwithout my team.”
