She turned and looked at me. “Do they know that?”

“I would hope so.”

As I guided her to the bar, I nodded my head to people who I knew.Because of how private this place was, I hardly ever had conversations with the peopleI saw; most wanted to be left alone.

“You want something to drink or smoke?”

Sheloved that wine so much that she nearly drank the whole bottle. I had the rest of that bottlewrapped up and sent to the room along with another one.

I waved my hand at the bartender.

“Mr. and Mrs. Danger, what can I get you?”

She looked at me and grinned. “Are you telling them to say that?”

I shook my head and looked at her hand. “You’re the one wearing that shiny ass ring on that hand.”

She looked at her hand like she didn’t know what she was wearing. “Oh, please.I got this from a vendor off the street for, like, a hundred dollars. A sweet old lady.I put some fingernail polish on it,so it won’t turn green as fast.”

“That’s funny.You want a real one?Is that your style?”

Her eyes widened a little before getting even bigger. “Um…I don’t…I mean, what do…” She cleared her throatwhile rubbing it. “I’m sorry. I don’t…what do you mean,‘do I want a real one’?”

I looked at the bartender, who was cheesing.

“My man,get my lady a Sour Dieseland Wedding Cake mix along with a Whiskey Sour, light on the Whiskey. And for me,I want Trainwreck intheKing Rawpaperand a glass of Hennessy, straight.”

Out the corner of my eye, I saw her still looking confusedabout what I said. She looked so cute when she was overthinking something.

“Quinci, don’t hurt your brain.”

She nodded her head. “Okay, I won’t. I acted really weird like you’d really want to marry me.”

“Do you think I wouldn’t? Why?”

“I don’t know. It’s not that I don’t fit your aesthetic because I know I’m bad. It just seems like…” She paused and looked confused. “I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t,” she added and laughed.

“Damn right.”

“But, wait…what does that mean, though?”

I winked at her, and her hands flew to her mouth. Seeing her flustered turned me on.

The bartender came back over with smalltray with our blunts and drinks on them.

“Come on, let’s go grab a seat.”

“Please don’tbe surprised if I come back here.”

“By yourself, or with me, right?”

I didn’t want to think about her bringing another man here; even though she’d be well within her rights to do so.

“Of course,by myself. Jealous ass.”

“You can’t shamemewhen I already know that about me.”

Shestarted laughing. We founda seat near the back of theclub. After she lit her blunt, she took a long pull and blew out the train of smoke.
