Dymon Danger

Two Weeks Later

It was a little after six, and we were landing at the closest jet strip to CitrusGrove.I stillcouldn’t believe that I’dgiven everything up. I missed it, but I felt better being at home with my girl, watching her lookpretty ashell, while I did what I’d learned to love, and that’s code software.

Since the day I left my parents’ house, I hadn’t spoken to any of them except for Donovan. He called meas much as he could on the weekends, and I answered every time. Even though I hadn’t talked to my siblings, I wasn’t mad at them and wouldnevertake my parentsshitout on them, but I needed a breakfrom all of them, just for the time being. They respected that for all ofthree days before they each started blowing up my phone, before I put them on my do not disturb list. I didn’t want to completely cut them off in case something happened. I still cared about their well-being.

Across from me, my nervous babytwisted in her seat. I wasn’t sure if she was nervousbecause I was meeting her parents or nervous because she was on the jet.

“Baby?”

She looked at me, nervousness all through her eyes.

“Youokay?”

She shook her head while shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t know, babe.” She started bouncing her leg while inhaling and exhaling.

“We should have a story. What’s the story? I could say that we were on awork trip and were able to stop by.”

“Quinci, if your parents are on socialmedia, they’ve already seen that I’ve stepped down from my position, so I don’t understand.”

She started rubbing her temples. “Don’t freaking remind me of social media. Oh my God. I hate Tyra so much.”

“I told you, but she’s good at what shedoes, and I trust her.”

She sighed.

When the news first broke, by LaShay, of course, Quinciwanted to go in the comments to talk shit about people, and Tyra forced me to change her social media passcodes, and I did, not giving them to her, whichpissed her offeven more. That’s what I tried to warn her about. When we sat down and talked about it, she said she understood; even though she was pissed she couldn’t stand up for us. I told her that she’d never be able to win in the court of public opinion.

“So, what do we say?”

I grabbed her hands. “You say, ‘hi, Mom,Dad.This is my boyfriend, Dymon Danger.’”

“Ughh,” she whined. “I can’t. I can’t. I can’t.And I don’t sound like that,asshole.”

I smiled.“And why not?”

“Whew.” She gripped the arms of the chair when the jet hit the tarmac. “I won’t get used to that ever. However, I can’t just tell my mom that you are my boyfriend. You are my boss.”

“Was your boss.”

“Tomato.Tomahto.”

I loved watching her get flustered.

Once we were off the jet,I led herto the red Ferrari that was waiting for us.

She gasped and looked at mewith a mortified look on her face. “Why did you get this? You’re going to have every eye on us. Can we evenafford this? Do you remember that you don’t have a job anymore?”

I stared at her while she ranted.I loved that ever since our trip to Colorado, she’d been talking about ‘we’ this, and ‘we’ that.

“Quinci, please calm down, okay? Can I tell you something?”

She sighed. “Yes. Yes, you can tell me anything.”

I popped the trunk for the guy who got our bags off the plane. After he was done, I pulled ahundred-dollarbill out of my pocket and handed it to him.

“The software that I am currently creating was sold forover ten million dollars. Mynet worth, as of today, is a hundred and ten million dollars. I…we are fine, okay? Stop worrying.”
