I’m blowing it. Speak. Idiot.

“Quin—” Denim started.

“WenciCleverly,” I blurted out.

He squinted.

Oh my fucking God!

Imassaged the bridge of my noseand chuckled. “I’m sorry.Quinci Everly… with an I.”I walked over to him, stretching my arm out.

He looked down at my hand, grabbing it with reluctance, and shook it.

“Dymon.”

He released my hand. His hands were so soft. I looked up into his brown eyes. He had to be at least six foot five. Same height as my father. How could one look better than theirfucking pictures? The photographer didn’t have to do anything but print it. There wasn’t a hair out of place on his face. Through his tailored suit, I could tell he was muscular.

“Nice to mee—”

“Let me speak with my sister for a second,Wenci.”

“It’s… it’s…Quinci.”I fiddled with my fingers.

“Uh-huh. It’ll just be a quick moment,” he declared, assuring me a quick nod.

“Okay,” I whispered.

As soon as I eased the door closed, Dymonstarted in on Denim.

“Are you out of your goddamn mind!” he roared, making me jump a little.“Is that supposed to be my assistant?”

I moved away from the door, down the hall, so I wouldn’t be able to hearhim, but that was no use.

“Don’t you yell at me, Dymon Danger!Because one, you don’t scare me, and two, you needed and assistant, and I like her and—”

“She can’t even say her own damn name right.”

“She was nervous. She’s not from here.”

“Oh my God. You picked her up when you and thatbustawent out of town.”

Denim must have nodded her head.

“You just saw a pretty face and said that will work for my brother. Where did you even go? What skills does she have? I haven’t seen a resume or nothing.”

At least he thinks I’m cute.

“IfIwere you, I’d run as fast as I can.”

I turned around to see Kia rounding her desk. “Why?”

She pointed at the door with her thumb. “You don’t hear that?”

I shrugged my shoulders. “I mean… he was taken by surprise, I guess. And I did get my name wrong.”

“Awee. You’re so cute. That is him every day.You won’t lasthere with that naiveté ass attitude neither. Trust me.”

“A farmer, Denim!”
