“Oh, girl. You’re not going to even get a badge.”

“Well, that’s very negative of you,” I responded to her.

“Well, it’s the truth.”

The door was snatched opened, and Denim walked out with a smile on her face.

“Come on.”

Dymon and I locked eyes for all of three seconds, and it felt like three minutes before he slammed the door making me jump a little.Denim was stepping on the elevator when I turned around.

“Where wegoing?” I asked her once the doors were closed.

“Floortwenty-three.”

“Another job position.”

“No. HR.”

“Oh. And what’s homegirl problem at the front?”

“Shouldn’t be one.”

“Oh.” I shrugged my shoulders.

Stepping off the elevator, we walked down a hall of officesbefore we got to the end. Denim knocked on the door beforepushing it in.

“Yes. And that’s between you two, but I see now. Yes.” A Denim look alike was holdingher desk phone in between her ear and shoulder.

I was sure that she was on the phone with Dymon. She cradled the phone and looked at me, a smile on her face before looking back at Denim. She held her hand up.

“Girl don’t tell me nothing that he said. Get her set up.I sent you all her information in an encrypted email, so it shouldn’t take you longto get the KOG set up.I have to be in court in an hour.”

“Okay, I can do that.”

“Quinci, you have my number. My phone will be on me all dayexcept forbeing in court.”

I nodded my head and watched her leave theoffice.

“Quinci, have a seat. My name is Demetria, but everyone calls me Metri.”

I snapped my fingers. “Oh.Metri’sin Lux.”

She nodded her head and smiled.“I am the older sister to both Denim and Dymon.”

“Oh, nice.” My eyes automatically went to the photo behind her, landing directly on Dymon.

“Oh, yeah. That’s us. But anyway, you have tons of papers to sign, but you do everything on the computer. I’m going to take your picture and get you a badge made.Go stand on the X.”

“Okay.”

Doing as I was told, I stood on the X. She counted down, and I gave my best restingbitchface look.I blinkedafter the camera flashed.

“Okay, girl.” She turnedthe computer around, showing me my picture.

“That’s cute, but the bags under my eyes are very present. I tossed and turned all night. I’ll probably do the same thing again tonight.”

She laughed. “Give me about ten minutes to get everything together.”
