She looked taken aback. “Well, Mr. Dymon, if that is the definition ofan executive assistant, then that number on the offer sheet I signed yesterday needs to double, and I need a work phone too because I refuse to have you ordering me around on my personal phone. I will turn that phone off with the quickness, and you will instantly disappear.Poof.”

My mouth opened, but not a single soundor word could come out. I bit the corner of my lip to hide my smile. I hated that she was funny, even when she was being serious as hell.

Shesnatched the orange back up. “And give me back my orange. No orangelovefor the grumpy man. Now, I am going to go sort out your calendar and check your emails in the process.”

She smiled at me and then looked at Diesel. “And I am Quinci with an I, by the way.I’m assuming you’re a Danger too?”

She held her hand out, prompting him to grab her hand. I wondered if he felt what I felt when I grabbed her smallsoft ass hands. How the fuckwas she a farmerwithsoft hands like that?

Diesel nodded his head and smiled. “Diesel. Diesel Danger. Elder Danger tomy siblings.I am down the hall, to the left if you ever need anything.”

He knew what he wasdoing, and it was working.

“Nice to meet you.Hopefully, you’re much nicer than Mr. Dymon. Shall I call you Mr. Diesel. Or…”

“Just Diesel.”

I adjusted the knot in my tie and cleared my throat. Diesel looked at me and slowly dropped her handand smirked at me.She squinted at me before walking out of my office, closing the door behind her, snapping both me and Diesel’s trance off her ass.

“I like her. She had your ass speechless. Read your ass like a book. And you ain’t doshitbut look goofy.”

I sat down. “Whatever, nigga.”

“I give youfourweeks,” hespoke lowly, so she didn’t hear us.

“Four weeks for what? Fuck youtalkin’ about?”

“Before you have her face down, ass up, and she have your ass hypnotized.”

My eyebrows furrowed. “What? Itain’t nothing like that. Youtripping. I ain’t trying to end up likeyour dad.”

He chuckled.“Mr. Dymon, one thingyou should know by now is that I know you better than you know yourself.Letting hercallyou Mr. Dymon, knowing no one in the world calls you that shit. Punk.”

“Whatever.” I waved him off. “Get out my office.”

“I’m just saying. You didn’t see your face when she was berating you. I could tell that by the end of the day, she’ll have the double offer and the work phone. You got it bad. Hasn’t even been forty-eight hours yet. I already got mad respect for her.”

“Fuckouttahere, Diesel.I got work to do.”

Helaughed. “Alright, man.”

Whenhe left my office,I watched him leanoverQuinci’sdesk and say something.

“Fraternizing of anykind is grounds for dismissal. No matter your last name,” I said.

She looked at me and smiled, and Diesel looked at me and winked.I knew Diesel thought she was beautiful, but he’d never make a move on her after just telling me that she would have me crazy. He wasdefinitely doingit to get under my skin.I hated when he was right, though. What he didn’t know was, if I didn’t get myself together, it would be less than four weeks… less than two if she keptfucking defyingme andbeing sexywhile doing it. Ihad to get a grip, it was only day two, and she had me unraveling.

As soon as twelve hit,I picked up my desk phone and pressed one forQuinci’sphone.

“Yes, Mr. Dymon.I’m getting ready to goto lunch now. Do I have to fetch yourlunch too?”

I looked at her through theglass, and she was staring at me with the most innocent smile on her face.I hoped my face appeared stoic, but I wasdefinitely reactinginwardly to her innocent question.

“Not today.”

“Okay, so, I’ve been looking—”
