Yesenda just shook her head, but she did not protest. In fact, she rested her head in the crook of his neck. Then they watched the fire together.

“Yesenda?”

“Aye.”

“Tis time for bed.” Iain gazed at her with hunger in his eyes. He lifted her off the chair and carried her to the bed, then placed her down in front of it.

“Iain, I need to tell you something.”

He moved closer; his mouth brushed against hers. “Aye love.”

“I dinnae think we should… touch.”

“You dinnae want us to touch?” he asked as his hand caressed her cheek.

“No…” she squeaked.

“Why not Yesenda? You dinnae like it?” He leaned in and kissed her neck.

“Aye, I dinnae like it,” she said breathlessly.

“Why?” He brushed the back of his hand across her breast.

“Because…” she rasped.

“Because?” he asked as he lowered his head and licked the taut peak through the material.

“Iain!”

“Hmm?” he mumbled as he lowered the front of her chemise, baring her to his hungry gaze.

“Oh, my…”

“You dinnae want me to touch you here?” he asked. He laved one peak with his tongue.

Yesenda threw her head back and moaned.

“Or is it here where you dinnae want me to touch you?” He lavished attention on the other one.

Her legs gave out from under her. One moment she was standing, the next she was in Iain’s arms as he lowered her onto the bed and followed her down.

“I have something to tell you, too. I am going to touch you as much as I like because you’re mine,” he said.

Yesenda clasped his hands to stop him from caressing her skin. “But we are not married, Iain.”

He frowned. “And whose bloody fault is that? I told you we needed to marry before we left. By tradition, it could have been done with Bram’s approval.”

“Aye, but I was raised in an abbey, and I want it done the religious way.”

He sat up after staring at her for a long time. “All right then. But when we arrive at our destination, the first priest I find is going to marry us. Do you agree?”

She nodded.

“Say it, love. I want your agreement in words.”

“Iain, if you can find a priest where we’re going, then I will marry you.” Yesenda smirked to herself. She knew there were no priests there. Well, none she could find.

Iain said, “Good. Now you better get into that bed and cover yourself up to your neck, so I dinnae ravish you.” He kissed her on the lips, then stood and headed for the door.
