“I’m all right.” He kissed her forehead and inhaled. The scent of her instantly scared away the mortars and gunfire otherwise riddling his mind.

“How often do you have them?” she asked quietly. “The nightmares,” she added when he didn’t reply.

Sighing, he pulled her into his arms, settling his hands on her perfectly full ass. He wouldn’t have Kita any other way. “A few times a week at minimum.”

“Oh, okay.” Her lips gently caressed his chest, attempting to heal, not arouse. He closed his eyes and let her try. Every moment he spent with Kita was better than the last. She made his blood boil then simmer in the same day. It was why he loved her. Why his heart always belonged to his Spanish beauty.

“Do you want to talk about them?”

He shook his head. “No, but thank you.” He tilted up her chin until her gaze met his. “You help scare the nightmares away.”

She rolled her eyes, and he kissed the tip of her nose. “I’m pretty kickass, but I don’t have power over your subconscious.”

“Seriously, Kita. I wake up and see you beside me and my fear vanishes.” He brushed her hair back, her nipples peaking in the cold room. “And it’s not only your body.” His hands enclosed her breasts, her pleasurable sigh encouraging him. “It’s you, Kita. You’re my tether to the real world. I know I’m safe when I see you.”

“Kevlar….” She laced her fingers around the base of his neck, lips cutting off her own reply.

He walked backward toward the bed, pulling Kita along with him. She settled on his lap, their connection immediate and satisfactory. He deepened her embrace, extracting a lusty moan from her ever so kissable lips. They may not be the perfect couple, but they were perfect for each other.

Chapter Sixteen

Nikita

The Macha wedding complete,Nikita was forced to return to reality once more. The three days she shared with the MC were pure bliss. She chewed her bottom lip.As were the multiple rounds tangling in and out of the sheets with Kevlar. Not thinking about him was impossible. His scent clung to her skin, a never-ending reminder.

She stirred cream into her coffee, staring off toward the back patio of the lodge. Up here, time stopped. It was the most vacation she’d had in the better half of ten years. After college, she’d been hired at the FBI, and it’d been nonstop from that day forward. She couldn’t complain. She loved her job more each day.Until recently.

Sipping the medium blend, she walked through the open living area and looked out the sliding doors. Kevlar was near the pool, Hawk and Rubble by his side. The trio spoke in low tones, each with a cigarette in hand. Every now and again, a deep rumble of laughter would erupt from one or all three. Kevlar’s easy smile made her mirror the act behind her cup of coffee. Her stomach fluttered, flashes from their morning tryst coming to her in waves of passion.

The burner phone buzzed from the back pocket of her jeans. She didn’t want to answer it, but it was the FBI. She couldn’t hide from them.

“Hello?”

“Where the hell have you and Mandi been?”

Turning away from the door, she walked toward the den. “In the mountains. Cell coverage has been dicey.”

Seemingly appeased by her answer, her boss cleared his throat. “You need to get back to town. We recently received chatter about the Cutthroats and Diablos moving a shipment.”

This made her pick up her pace. “When?”

“No definite date. We need you and Mandi to get back in the dollhouse and figure it out.”

Her pulse quickened at the idea of stepping foot back in the shack of horrors. But this is the job.

“All right, we’ll get the information.”

“Oh, and Nikita, just because Macha is on our side doesn’t mean they’re not in on it too.”

Frowning, she paused at the bottom of the stairs. “What do you mean?”

“One of my analysts uncovered a recent betrayal by one of their own. The VP, as it turns out. He was working with the Twelve Brothers from Ireland.”

That name she knew well. Her father had dealt with the Twelve Brothers on more than one occasion. She’d even visited Ireland with him as a teen, unbeknownst to her at the time the true reason for the transatlantic flight.

“All right, thanks. We won’t divulge any additional details to Macha than what’s necessary.”

She disconnected before her boss could interject another factoid. Traitors were everywhere, no MC safe from the lure of money and power. Bounding up the stairs, she made it to Kevlar’s room in time to see Mandi walking out of the room three doors down.
