Kita smiled at him, then went back to adding blue sprinkles to the snowflake-shaped sugar cookies. They were married last week, Reaper officiating. He could officially call himself a married man with an old lady hotter than the rest. It hadn’t sunk in completely. The new tattoo on his finger caught his eye. Kita had one too. The symbol they agreed neither could remove, no matter what they endured.

The scar on his side wouldn’t ever completely go away either. He kept the reminder there on purpose. He needed to see it every now and then to remind himself of the past and what their future could become.

“Kevlar, you ready to go? Hawk and Doc are already at the lodge.”

He looked over at Rubble in the doorway. Snow pelted his face, already red from the elements.

“Meet you outside in a second.” Standing, he stretched lazily. After spending the day ensuring the Macha women were well taken care of, he was ready to get out and let loose.

Walking into the kitchen, he kissed the top of Kita’s head. “You coming to the lodge later?”

She grinned up at him, flour smudging on her cheek. “Yep, and we’ll bring some cookies for you too.”

“Okay, make one of the prospects drive.” He nodded to Isa, the cute swell to her belly one he’d never put in danger. “Don’t want anything to happen while I’m gone.”

The three women looked at him incredulously and giggled. “Please, I think we can handle a little snow,” Isa stated with a snort, her Irish accent tickling his ears.

“And if not, I’m always packing, baby.” Kita patted her side. Sure enough, her FBI issued gun was safely hooked to her belt. It only made him hotter for her. She wasn’t a prissy girl who was afraid to stand up for herself. She’d kick anyone’s ass given the chance.

Kevlar kissed Kita until both Queenie and Isa cooed giddily. Pulling away, he scanned his old lady’s amber eyes. They were glazed with lust. Just the way he wanted them. “Don’t stay away long. I have a room reserved.”

She swatted his ass. “I’m not that kind of girl.”

“No, but you’re that kind of woman.”

Kita blushed and flipped him her middle finger. “You’re right. Good thing you know better.”

“Nah, I just know you.” He waved at Queenie and Isa. “See you all later.”

Kevlar left before the lure of Kita’s body swayed him otherwise. He needed to spend some time with his brothers after being in a sex bubble with Kita the last few months. He wasn’t complaining one bit, but his brothers were.

Stepping out in the storm, he pulled up the hood of his sweatshirt under his cut. The parking lot was full of snow again even after he plowed it that morning. Shrugging, he climbed into the waiting truck. There’d always be time for chores. Right now, he was off to help initiate a prospect. It was his first in years, and they were all looking forward to the prospect’s initial step to being a full-fledged Macha man.

Rubble handed him a cigarette.

“Actually, I’m quitting.” He slapped his arm. “Got the patch and everything.”

Rubble’s face went from surprised to teasing. “Fucking women. They’ll get every last one of us.”

“I can guarantee it, but they’re so worth it.”” He buckled his belt and turned on the radio. “What about you, brother? Any lady catch your eye?”

Clearing his throat, Rubble shook his head. “Nah, I’m too fucked up for somebody special.” Before Kevlar could argue, the big man added, “Plus, I enjoy nymphs way too much to settle down.”

Kevlar snorted. “I believe that’s what Doc said, and now he’s expecting a baby with his old lady.”

Rubble turned the steering wheel. “Yeah, that’s another reason. Women want babies.”

“Shit, sorry.” Kevlar cursed himself for forgetting his best friend’s deepest secret. “But hey, not all women are the same.” He nudged him good-naturedly. “Especially Macha women.”

“Yeah, maybe.”

Watching snow pepper the windshield, Kevlar eyed the burly man beside him. They’d gone through hell overseas and even in the States. If anyone deserved a happily ever after, it was Rubble.

“Did I tell you Queenie bought a bakery in town?”

He shook his head and gave Kevlar side-eye. “What? Why? Macha has enough businesses.”

Kevlar shrugged. “Dunno. I think it has something to do with Yasmina. She can’t run the place by herself and Queenie’s too busy at the lodge this time of year.”
