He nodded and gasped the lower she kissed. “As long as you’re mine, Kita, I don’t care what happens next.”

Sliding down his boxers, she paused and looked up at him. Even with a white bandage covering the bullet he took because of her, Kevlar Dorous was breathtaking. He had been from day one. He’d be until the day she died. She’d run from her past when she really should’ve been running to him instead. It was a mistake she’d never make again.

Lesson learned love earned.

“Kita, wake up.”

Groaning her displeasure, she fluttered open her eyelids. Kevlar hovered above her in bed. Darkness hung behind the window shade, but wanes of new light from the day threatened to make an appearance.

“Why? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I realized I forgot to give you something.”

She sat up, keeping her sleepy head on her fist. “And what is that?”

“This.”

Following his gaze, Nikita took in the shimmer of her handgun. “Um, thank you?” She grabbed it and put it on the side table. “I think it could’ve waited until morning, babe.”

“Jesus, Kita, did you look at what was on the gun?”

She cocked her brow. “What’d you do, clean it?”

He laughed and crawled out of bed. She couldn’t complain at what she saw. Kevlar naked was wonderful to see any time of day or night.

He knelt next to the bed, retrieving the gun. Holding it up, he offered it to her again. This time, she noticed the sparkling glint of a diamond.

“Oh my God.” She sat up, eyes darting to the ring attached to the gun by a string.

“It’s unloaded, but the diamond isn’t.” He met her gaze. “And neither is our love. We’ve been through hell, fought the devil, and walked out. Yeah, we both got a few burns and scars along the way, but I think it’s worth it. I think we’re worth all the drama and firefights.”

She rubbed her lips together, her stomach swirling at his words.

“Be my old lady, Kita. I can’t promise any more gems like this, but I can promise to love you every day. Even when you’re a badass bitch who can kick my ass.” He smiled and unlatched the ring from the gun. “What do you say? Be my old lady and boss me around?”

It was a question she didn’t have to think over twice. Closing the distance to his lips, she tugged on the back of his neck until he was fully on top of her on the bed.

“Si, mi amor. I’ll be your old lady and kick your ass any time I need to.”

“I think you’ll enjoy that.” He smiled against her lips. “And so will I because it sounds like heaven.”

From Diablos to heaven. Yeah, she could get used to that. Life with Kevlar wouldn’t be boring. She wrapped her legs around his waist. A life with her wouldn’t be either. It was why they were perfect for each other. Both ideally flawed, that their love canceled each other out to create perfection.

“You are so getting laid again,” she murmured.

Kevlar slid into her warmth. “Already ahead of you, baby.”

Laughing, she rolled him over and thoroughly kissed him. She no longer wanted to take down every MC. Macha was the one exception. Just like Kevlar.

Epilogue

Kevlar

Time seemedto blur over the following months. Christmas came and went, as did the unexpected murder of Kita’s father. The investigation remained open, but he doubted they’d ever discover who murdered the great Muerte Morales.

Kevlar lifted his gaze and grinned. Kita was in the kitchen with Isa and Queenie, preparing for the upcoming winter games by baking cookies to sell at the lodge. The news of her father’s death brought a visit from her mother. After learning of what Muerte allowed done to their daughter, he was certain Rose had something to do with her husband’s death, but they never spoke of it. He’d leave it alone. It was best for everyone.
