CHAPTER15

BREWER

The dining areanever seemed fuller to Brewer than it did with Delphi sitting next to him. Most of the nymphs were there along with all his brothers, prospects, and the old ladies. Both the adjoining kitchen and dining table were packed to the brim.

He stared at the food heaped on his plate. He’d only been able to take a few bites since piling it on there. More than once, he’d had to tell one of the patches or prospects to leave Delphi alone. Nobody seemed to believe she was there with him.

Brewer gritted his teeth at the sound of Hawk flirting with Delphi. Sure, he was never attached to any one woman, but Delphi was literally sitting at his side. It rubbed him the wrong way, but he guessed his brothers were doing it on purpose.

He and Delphi hadn’t had a chance to discuss his bombshell yet. The club’s need for dinner interrupted any response she could give. Since then, he kept trying to talk to her, but she wouldn’t even look at him.

“So, Delphi, you work at that French bistro, right?” Kevlar asked, scooping cheesy mashed potatoes on his plate.

“Actually, I own it.” Delphi smiled. “I’ve always loved food, especially French food, and when I came back from culinary school, I knew I had to open a restaurant in Snowshoe showcasing that kind of cuisine.”

“Are you a chef too?” Hawk asked.

“Yes, but I did hire another chef, so I bounce around as needed.”

“She makes the best cheese soufflé,” Jupiter added from across the table. “It’s my go-to comfort food.”

Delphi blushed, the pink perfect against her light skin tone. “You’re my number-one customer for those.”

“More like the baby is,” Rubble said, jumping into the conversation. “Jupiter hauls me out of bed on a Sunday morning for those soufflés.” He offered Delphi a grin. “But I can’t complain. Your food is incredible.”

“Well, that settles it,” Reaper said from the head of the table. “We’ll plan a club dinner there. Delphi, can we rent out the whole place?” He laughed at three youngsters running around the table. “We can be a bit of a rowdy bunch.”

“Oh, of course.” She looked at him, and for the first time, Brewer felt a zing of hope. “I’ll let Brewer know when I have an opening. Unfortunately, we have reservations months in advance.”

Reaper’s face fell until she added, “But I can squeeze you in on a Monday.”

Brewer frowned. “That’s your one day off.”

“It’s fine.” She shrugged and offered him a small smile. “Not like I do much on those days anyways.”

Her wounded eyes nearly did him in. He’d fucked up by not telling her about Shovelhead when she told him about her possible parentage. Brewer wasn’t about to give up on this woman. If she gives me another shot.Their relationship thus far was complicated, and her connection to Shovelhead only intensified that.

“We’ll help out,” Queenie said from beside Reaper.

“That’s not—”

“She’ll take the help,” Brewer finished for her. “Won’t you, sweet cheeks?”

The bite of creamed corn she was about to eat paused at her lips, and a hush drifted over the table. Delphi met his gaze, but he couldn’t guess her reaction. She was calm and collected. Not her normal Delphi self when it came to his teasing. It all came down to this. How she reacted would determine if he had a shot in hell with her or if he was better off sulking to the nymphs in the basement.

“You know I’d never turn down seeing you suds deep, honey buns.”

Brewer’s face heated until he knew it was as red as his hair. Laughter erupted in the large space. Snoopy choked on his bite of green beans, and Legs slapped his back. Rubble’s shoulders shook when Kevlar offered a salute to Brewer.

“You got honey buns, Brewsky?” Hawk howled from his spot.

Delphi laced her left arm around Brewer’s neck and kissed his flamed cheek. “The tastiest.”

“Thank the goddess she’s a freak too,” Nikita chuckled, winking at Delphi. “We could use a few more.”

“I’ll second that.” Doc said, raising a glass toward Delphi.

If he wanted to hide his face in his hands, Brewer thought better of it. He needed to keep an eye out since his brothers had gone from flirting to admiring Delphi. She had been officially accepted into the club, but ashisand no one else’s.
