Takingcare of Delphi was the highlight of his night. Sure, there was a baby being introduced to the world for the very first time downstairs, but he’d rather sit on his bed and catch up on e-mails with her right next to him.

Her hair was mussed, partly from the habit she had of running her fingers through it when she thought no one was looking. It was cute. At least, he thought so. Just another reason he liked her. She kept him guessing, never one to do the same thing more than once.Except those adorable habits.

He smirked. He’d never get sick of them any more than he would the way her voice took on a low and sexy tone whenever they made love. His dick jumped in his jeans, and he adjusted it. Now wasn’t the time to be focusing on that.

A rustling met his ears and he looked over toward Delphi. She was slowly opening her eyes, a confused expression on her face.

“Well, good morning, starshine,” he teased. “Get enough sleep?”

“Oh my God. I passed out, didn’t I?” She sat up straight. “How is Isa? Did she have the baby?” She ran her fingers through her hair, and he smirked. “I’m so embarrassed. I’ve never done that before.”

Chuckling, he leaned over and pressed a kiss to the top of her head. “Don’t worry about it. Shit like that happens now and then. Nothing to be ashamed of. How’re you feeling?”

“I’m fine. Just feel horrible for making a scene.” She caught her bottom lip between her teeth, taking in her surroundings. “So, this is your room? I haven’t seen it with the lights on.”

Brewer nodded as he sent a text message to Rubble. He hadn’t heard anything about Isa in an hour. “Since I was a teenager.”

“It’s not messy.”

He laughed and stood. “Surprisingly, no. I like to keep my space clutter-free when I can. Don’t come over after a night when I’ve been drinking, though. I’m a bit clumsy.”

Delphi drew her legs up, crisscrossing them. “How long was I out?”

“Just over an hour.”

“I guess that isn’t terrible.” She shrugged. “A nice evening nap.”

Noticing the way she crossed her arms over her chest, Brewer knew she was still upset with herself. That wouldn’t do for a minute.

“Let’s go play some pool.”

“I’m horrible at pool.”

He held out his hand. “All the more reason. Gotta step up your game if you’re gonna hang with Macha.”

Delphi looked at his hand, then sighed. “All right, fine, but no betting. I’m not about to lose my shirt or something.”

Brewer helped her off the bed. “Don’t worry, sweet cheeks, you’d lose your pants first.” He playfully swatted her ass. “But now that I think of it, I don’t want my brothers seeing that, so you better wear lots of layers if you ever play any strip game with us.”

She lifted both her middle fingers. “Eat me.”

“Oh, I plan to.” He wiggled his brows and she giggled, her face going red. “I’ll eat your pussy until you scream.”

“Are you ever serious?”

Circling her waist with his arm, he drew her close. The scent of her perfume overwhelmed his nostrils. She smelled like fresh cookies and roses. Surely there had to be something wrong with her, because all he saw was perfection.

“Now, why would I want to be serious?” He nuzzled his nose against hers. “If I’m serious, I don’t get to see your temper flare, or your eyes roll, or your cheeks go red.”

The joking expression left her face, and her eyes dipped to his mouth. “You do it on purpose.”

“Yeah, I do.” He leaned over, softly kissing the side of her neck. Her pulse thrummed against his lips and her breathing hitched. “And that’s why I’m not serious very often, Delphi. I like to see the fire burn in your eyes.”

Her hands rested on his hips, fingers sneaking beneath his belt and pulling him slightly closer. “You take great pride in that, don’t you?”

“Sure, I do, but there’s something I take more pride in.”

“And what’s that?”
