Delphi swallowed down the emotions that so desperately wanted to escape. She wasn’t sure how to react. He’d spent the last year tracking down Shovelhead, the man who had potentially killed his parents, and then he’d give up all retribution for her. It didn’t sit well in her gut.

Brewer’s tongue drifted over the side of her throat, his attempts to quell her thoughts almost succeeding.

“But, Brewer, what about Dolly? She’s even more set on—”

He placed his hand over her mouth and shook his head. “Delphi, we just exchanged the most important three words in existence, and you want to talk about my sister?”

She bit her bottom lip. “No, I guess not.”

Rolling her beneath him, Brewer kissed her until she felt light-headed. “Good, because all I want to do right now is make love to you. Can I do that?”

“How could I resist such an offer?” she teased, kissing the base of his throat.

Brewer wiggled his eyebrows and immediately got to work on her shirt. Delphi pushed pause on their shared Shovelhead problem. They’d deal with it later. For this night, all they wanted was to celebrate their love. Delphi had no doubt they’d be doing simply that all night long.

The first nightshe’d stepped into Booze & Tattoos, Delphi liked it. Then again, she’d also been with her best friend, Jupiter, ready to sing her heart out. Tonight, she sat in one of the corner booths and scanned the bar. The photo above the booth had a small plaque beneath it that said RK and Alannah. It didn’t take her long to figure out that the couple smiling back at her were Brewer and Dolly’s parents. If the bright red hair wasn’t a dead giveaway, Alannah’s blue eyes hit it home. A part of Delphi felt guilty for sitting there. She was most probably the daughter of the man who slaughtered those loving faces.I really hope Shovelhead didn’t kill them.

Swallowing the shot of whiskey, she focused her gaze on Brewer behind the bar. Dwelling on his parents would get her nowhere good. She loved their son.Surely that rights a wrong.

“You doing okay?” a nymph asked, breaking into Delphi’s musings.

“Uh, yeah, thanks.” She watched the thin woman walk away and couldn’t help but stare at her shapely ass and solid C-cup breasts. She wasn’t drop-dead gorgeous, but some of the other nymphs were. What a place to grow up.She shook her head and noticed Brewer making margaritas for the two women sitting at the bar.And what an environment to be in day in and day out.He was consistently surrounded by beautiful women. Instead of being jealous, Delphi felt a sense of pride. He chose her. Even though they hadn’t discussed what that meant outside the bedroom, she trusted him.

The song overhead ended, and a popular country anthem came on next. A group of men in overalls whooped with joy and she smirked. Snowshoe was many things, but the town’s collective love of country music would never change.

After taking a sip of the Guinness, Delphi sat back and closed her eyes. The sounds of the bar and tattoo parlor mingled together. From teasing voices to the noisy tattoo guns, she found she rather liked the harmonies.

“You look way too comfortable here,” Brewer’s teasing voice said.

Opening her eyes, she grinned cheekily. “Isn’t that how I should feel?”

He slid into the booth across from her. “Yeah, I’m glad. A little surprised, but definitely glad to hear it.”

Delphi stretched lazily. Coming here after the bistro closed wore on her, but she wanted to see Brewer as often as possible. Not being near him felt wrong.

“You want to go back to my place tonight?” she offered. “I need to feed the cat. She’ll yell at me tomorrow if I don’t.”

“Works for me.” Brewer scratched his chin, but his eyes weren’t on her anymore. Following his gaze, she swallowed hard at the sight of a group of men who walked into the bar. From their cuts, it was obvious they were Greenback Cutthroats. A sense of dread filled her stomach.

“Maybe I should go home now.”

Reaching across the table, he grabbed her hand and squeezed it once. “If you want to go, I’ll take you now. But if you only want to get away from that crowd, don’t let them scare you off.” His blue eyes searched her. “Nobody fucks with my girl. And nobody fucks around in Macha’s bar. If those boys want anything other than booze, I’ll kick them out. I don’t care what patch they’re wearing.”

Squeezing his hand back, she offered him a tiny smile. “You’re really a big teddy bear, aren’t you?”

He growled in a low tone and wiggled his eyebrows up and down. “If that’s what you want, then hell yes, sweet cheeks.” He stood and leaned down. “Don’t you forget what I said. You’re mine. Nobody will mess with you in my bar or my club.” He kissed her hard, and she had to catch her breath when he pulled back. “Got it?”

Delphi nodded mutely. She wasn’t sure she could put a sentence together if she tried. The love Brewer made her feel after one kiss was ten times the amount any other man had shown her. Sighing, she watched him walk back to the bar. His presence dominated the space. This was his domain. This was clearly evident in the ways the nymphs and bikers treated him with respect. Even if he wasn’t wearing his Macha cut, his role in the club was clear.

Pulling out her phone, Delphi reviewed her social media accounts. Nothing on them held her attention. Not when her eyes constantly gravitated to Brewer. She could get used to coming here on a daily or weekly basis. His lithe movements and easy smile were addictive. Watching him was more than enough entertainment. She pressed her legs together. She couldn’t wait until she was all alone with him in her bed.

CHAPTER33

BREWER

The dayof the city picnic, the sky was filled with big, fluffy clouds. The tint of gray worried Brewer at first, but Snowshoe was more than prepared for the chance of rain. Everywhere he looked, tents had popped up with vendors inside them, ready to share and sell their goods.
