Chapter Five
RAYN
The bar was not my best answer, I realize now.
It’s not the replacement for the extra practice time that I need.
What I’m craving is the feel of the turf under my cleats, the ball in my hands, and the air hitting my face as I sprint down the field.
I’m only a day into my probation and already, I am having withdrawals.
Tomorrow, I will be back at regularly scheduled practice, but it just won’t cut it.
I need more.
There’s all this pent-up energy burning up inside of me and there is only one thing I can think to do: take some random girl home with me.
I may not do love, but I can do a one-night-stand.
No strings attached.
And, yes, I’m wearing a condom and I’ll probably still pull out, too, for good measure.
If I can’t run out this testosterone, I’ll have to fuck it out.
That may make me sound dirty, but it’s just the truth.
I scan the room to find a girl who doesn’t look like she’s a jersey chaser. I need someone who doesn’t know me. Or, at the very least, doesn’t care who I am.
And that’s when I see her.

Lennon Neil is thelastperson I need to see right now when I am feeling horny and ready to go home with someone. And if I thought she looked good this morning, it is absolutely nothing compared to the way she looks right now.
She has her hair pulled back into this high ponytail that’s long enough to drape over the front of her shoulder and she’s wearing a top with tiny, thin straps that I could break off with just one pop of my thumb. She’s wearing jean shorts and I had not had a chance to see those sculpted, tan legs before, so now, I’m done for.
Lennon looks pissed.
