She gives me a sly smile. “Why? Afraid you’re going to say something bad about the boss that I’ve never heard before? Or are you afraid that you are going to hit on his precious little sister?”

I have met my match.

This woman is a force and she has me unraveling.

“I plead the fifth,” I tell her.

“Two more tequila shots, please,” she says to the bartender, then looks back at me with a challenge in her eyes.

I am so screwed.

Chapter Two

Heather

It isn’t easy being the little sister of the boy genius.

Griffin was always the techy, smart one. The business-minded one. The “most likely to be the next Steve Jobs.”

While I was always more of a… drifter.

Sometimes, I wanted to be a travel photographer.

Sometimes, I wanted to paint pet portraits.

Sometimes, I wanted to be an actress.

These days, I just want to be left alone.

Yes, it is tough to be the little sister of the boy genius.

Especially because your parents know that you always have a job you can “fall back on” if you need it.

And right now, they’re pushing that idea very strongly.

But tonight, I am trying my best not to worry about career paths and parental pressure.

Tonight is about tequila shots.

And him.

There is something special about this particular employee of Griffin’s.

His impeccable jawline.

His sheepish smile.

And the way he fills his suit is very hard not to notice.

“I’m Heather,” I finally tell him after our third round of shots. “Heather Marks. But… you knew that already.”

He smiles. It’s that smile that looks like it is asking for permission and it’s sexy as hell. “I’m Walsh Holmes.”

I nod my approval. “That’s a very strong name. Like a politician. Or a principal.”

He laughs. “Walsh was my mother’s maiden name. She didn’t want to part with it.”

I liked that. It was original. And something about the way he mentioned his mother was very kind.
