Zade flaps his wings and flexes his muscles. “Raven, I need you to come with me. It’s important. I—”
Snarling, I transform into my devil façade and lunge at Zade. Raven yells and tries to grab me by the tail, but Dante pulls her into his arms protectively. I swipe my claws at Zade, forcing him to scramble away. He unsheathes his heavenly sword, his body glowing with power. The fucking nerve he has to threaten me in my own room.
I whip my tail around his wrist despite burning myself. “You are not taking Raven anywhere. Now tell me why or I will throw you into the pit of Hell.”
“Kase,” Raven says softly.
I ignore her. “Spit it out now. Last chance.”
Zade clenches his jaw, flaring his nostrils. “I need to take her to keep her safe. The guardians found Elias. They—”
“Oh, fuck. What? They found him.” Raven whacks Dante’s chest, getting him to set her on her feet. “Where? You have to tell us. Please, Zade. Please.”
Raven shoves me off of Zade and grabs him, trying to help him to his feet, but he remains frozen, looking at me. I growl in warning, my Hell power buzzing in shocking waves across my skin.
Dante looms over them. “Answer her.”
“He’s here,” Zade finally says. Reaching up, he presses his hand to Raven’s stomach. “His soul is here.”
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
This can’t be.
What he’s insinuating...unholy Hell.
Raven gasps and yanks away from him, rushing to Dante’s arms. “You’re lying! You’re a fucking liar! Why would you say something like that?”
Except Zade wouldn’t lie.
My mind whirls with a thousand thoughts, and I transform into my human façade and snatch Raven up. Turning to Dante, I say, “Get him out of here. We can’t trust him. Go find the others and meet us in my kingdom, okay? Don’t tell anyone yet. We need to be sure.”
Dante nods once and hauls Zade from the floor. Without waiting for him to leave, I break open a portal to Hell, cracking the apartment's foundation. I should’ve used the summoning circle, but I’m afraid for once in my damn life.
I need to get Raven out of here.
We have to go into hiding.
Raven can’t say anything as I adjust her in my arms and jump into Hell.
Chapter 7
RAVEN
Soulmate
THIS CAN’T BE happening.
This can’t be fucking happening.
My mind whirls as I think the words over and over again. Zade told me I’m pregnant. He said that Elias’s soul was inside me. What the actual fuck? It’s impossible. What kind of twisted fate is this? I wanted to find Elias. I did not want to have him fucking inside me like this. It ruins everything. I could never be with him like we had before ever again.
I thought I was grieving before, but it’s nothing compared to what I’m feeling right now.
“Here, Raven, piss on this.” Dante slaps a box down on the counter beside me.
“No. Zade is lying. Heaven is doing this to fuck with my head. There’s no way I could be pregnant and have Elias choosing to be my fucking son. I’m on birth control. You know that. There was no way I was letting Joel knock me up, and it lasts several more months.” I cover my face with my hands.
I ended up getting the Depo shot because I knew Joel would’ve said something if he found the pills. He would have accused me of sleeping around while I was living under his roof while he was taking care of me even though I called off our engagement. It just wasn’t worth it.
