The wolf pounces harder on my chest winding me. My vision blurs, and a snarl cuts deeply through me. Pain shoots from my throat, zinging through the rest of my body as fangs sink into my flesh. Eliana screams again.

“Stand down! Go after Lagoon Hollow and Windshore. Don’t let the bastards leave the territory,” a deep, raspy voice snaps. It’s the leader guy. “Ravi, get them to the border. All of them.”

Someone steps over me. “You got it, brother.”

My head swims with unfamiliar voices, but Eliana’s soft prayer trickles through the discordant roar of growls, shouts, and my head pounding.

“Help your friend up, pup. You heard Sean. Now’s the time to find your place.” The man nudges me with his foot. “Looks like he might be okay but watch yourself. The rejection happens fast.”

Adam shoves his hands under me, lifting me up. He meets my gaze, tightening his jaw. “Hey, man. It’s going to be okay.” Golden light flashes across his hazel eyes. Something’s different. He looks as if at any minute, a wolf will burst free.

“Everyone move. Don’t do anything stupid,” Ravi says, coming into my view. “Tell them, princess.” He grabs Eliana’s hand, yanking her closer. She doesn’t resist.

Her mouth quivers as she flicks her gaze to me. “Listen to him, okay? We’re going to be okay.”

If only she didn’t sound unsure.

I don’t think anything will ever be okay now.

The lykoswulves have won.

I can’t move. Every muscle on my body aches. I don’t know where I am, only that I’m not alone. Evander and Adam whisper from somewhere to my right. I can’t understand them, but I hear them mention Kellan. Eliana, too.

“Tristan?” Eliana murmurs my name, her breath tickling my ear. I hadn’t realized she was so close. “Tristan, here. Your lips are so dry. You need something to drink. I need you to keep your strength.”

My strength? What do I need my strength for? I’ve already been captured. We all have. Now, we just have to wait to find out what the fuck they plan to do with us.

I don’t argue though, because Eliana is right. I’m so parched that my lips crack when I open them. Her gentle hand coaxes me to sit up, and she offers me a glass of water. It’s weird seeing her with one. She’s changed her clothes as well, clean and free of any signs of the sandy beach shore. I flare my nostrils, catching the scent of her damp hair. It smells like pineapples and something warmer like vanilla. I don’t think I’ve ever smelled something so incredible in my life.

She releases a breathy laugh. “Are you sniffing me?” Holding up the glass again, she waits for me to take a sip.

I try not to chug the whole thing, but the cool water is utter bliss to my mouth. Her golden eyes lock onto mine, and I force myself to stop before I drink the entire thing and make myself sick. “Hell yeah, I’m sniffing you. You smell delicious.”

She laughs again and pats my cheek. “I think you’re going to be fine. Do you think you can get up? We don’t have much, but there is a shower. I can help you.”

“Unless you prefer me to scrub your smelly ass down,” Evander says, sitting up from on the other side of Eliana.

It’s now that I really look around.

I flick my gaze to Evander. “I knew you wanted to do that bullshit with me. What did it? Not seeing my cock all the time? You miss it?”

He tips his head back and laughs. “I’m just tired of your stench and figured I’d save Eliana from that nasty task.”

Eliana shakes her head with a smile. “It’s really okay. I don’t mind. You need to rest as well. I think I’ll be a bit more gentle.”

“And when she’s finished with you, I’ll bandage your throat again.” Chase shifts in the edge of my vision, and I spot him sitting by Adam and Davian.

We are in an actual room of some sort. Not a cave. Not some makeshift camp. This is a real bedroom with the bathroom and everything. There’s even a window, and orange light glows from the crack in the curtain like the world outside might have been set on fire.

I clear my throat, trying to find my voice. “Where are we, anyway? What happened? Are we with Kellan’s pack?”

Because if we’re with Kellan, I want to kill him for taking Eliana and leaving us behind. He made it seem as if we could stay together and help each other, because apparently you need a female or some shit, but then he went and kidnapped her. It’s when another boat came for us at the yacht.

“We are with the Sunset Pointe pack. They have taken us in temporarily to wait out the evening until the full moon.” Eliana offers me her hand, but my body aches too much, and I don’t want her to have to pick up my heavy ass.

She knits her brows together and shifts her hands under my arms, dragging me up to my feet, forcing me to put weight down on my legs. She’s a lot stronger now. I’m nearly certain she wouldn’t have been able to do that before. It must be the golden sheen flickering in her eyes. She was bitten too, after all.

My need to take care of myself outweighs my pain, and I tighten my jaw and limp across the small room into the bathroom. Eliana squeezes past me and flicks on the shower, setting the temperature hot enough to send steam through the air. She looks behind me and then quietly clicks the door closed. The second we are alone, she throws her arms around me and hugs me, not even caring that she buries her face into my dirty shirt.
