Growls sound around us as Kellan and Davian fight, and Kellan manages to get to his feet. He locks his jaw onto Davian’s neck, tearing at his flesh. But he isn’t intent on killing him. He’s trying to slow him down.

Rocco drags me around, thrashing his body while snarling and sinking his teeth into my side. I still refuse to let go. I know if I do, I’m a dead wolf. I will never be able to escape this island. I will have let my guys down. My pack. I will have wasted my grandma’s efforts, and I will prove that I’m not worthy of her lineage.

I refuse to believe it. If she could do this, so can I.

Kellan breaks away from Davian, charging toward us. Rocco whips his attention to Kellan, leaving himself open to me. He grabs Kellan by the throat and bites down hard enough to silence the growls escaping his mouth. My vision crowds with pain. Kellan’s pain.

It’s enough to get me to release Rocco’s paw, but I don’t let him get far. I knock into him, sending both him and Kellan rolling. I do the only thing I can think of. I bite down on his back leg, sinking my teeth not only into his thigh but also into his balls.

He yelps, his wolf wailing with a screech. He spins around, snarling at me, but he freezes. He doesn’t attack. Instead, he rushes away and runs toward the trees. I sink to the ground, exhaustion grabbing hold of me. I know I need to get up. I know I need to keep fighting.

“Little badass, fuck.” Adam’s voice trickles into my mind, wrapping around me.

“Let me through.” Ravi’s giant form stands over me, and he nuzzles his wolf snout into my neck, he glides his tongue over my fur, licking my wounds as if he can suddenly heal me. He releases a deep growl. “Get the traitor.”

Fear clenches my heart, and I whimper, peering at Davian and Kellan. “Please. Don’t.”

As if my words ignite something inside Davian, he launches to his feet and runs toward the trees. I stare at the empty spot where he was, seeing the blood staining the sand.

“Adam, you have to go after him. We promised.” I think the words to Adam, trying to see him past Ravi, but Ravi blocks his way.

“He has made his decision. You must let him go. You’re too young to face the Twilight Cove pack alone.” This comes from another guy. I think it’s Sean. It’s strange how I can sense it.

A couple of new voices sound through my mind as the quiet murmurs of the men circle around me. It wasn’t only Adam and Ravi to scare off Rocco. It was the entire Sunset Pointe pack. They only interfered because they had to. They weren’t going to let me die.

But it’s kind of late for that. A part of me already has. I don’t think that part of me, the human part of me, will ever be revived again.

“We need to take care of the infraborne. He is of no use to us,” Sean says, his muscular wolf form stepping over me as if I’m just some sort of obstacle in his way.

I whimper, my whole body aching. “Please, don’t.”

Sean snarls at my pleas.

He ignores me completely.

Ravi drags me by the scruff of my neck, pulling me away as the Sunset Pointe pack surrounds Kellan.

My heart breaks.

Even Adam and Chase join them.

I guess I was stupid to think I’d have a pack.

I have no one.

And I realize now that being alone just isn’t enough. I’ll never be enough.

Chapter twenty-five

Eliana

Manipulation

“IFYOUEVERwantme to consider you as a mate, stop them. Please. He helped me.” I struggle beneath Ravi as he pins me, not taking me far. “He rejected his pack…for me. Please. Don’t let them do this.”

“You know my terms, princess.” Ravi releases me, towering over me with his hulking frame.

I’m going to kill him. I’ve never wanted someone’s blood so badly on my hands. He could help but instead he tries to manipulate me into doing something unthinkable.
