“Leave them. Hustle,” the alpha snaps.

The beta tosses me toward Holly, and I crash into her, bonking my head on her shoulder. The van door slams shut, leaving us in the windowless cargo area.

I push up, rushing to get to my feet. I reach for Holly, but the world jolts, and I lose my balance.

The van screeches as it peels away with us inside.

This might be it.

We’re trapped.

Only we can save ourselves now.

“Where do you think they are taking us?” Holly whispers, burying herself into my side. Our captors were too much in a hurry to bind my hands, so I was able to remove the tape covering our mouths and free Holly.

We tried the back doors and the side door, but neither would budge. A metal wall separates us from the driver, and the only way we’re going to get out of here is when they open the door.

We have nothing to use as weapons. I don’t know how to even prepare for what happens next. I don’t think these men are part of the Platinum Shores Pack.

I rub my hand up and down her arm, the gesture comforting the both of us. “I wish I knew. Try not to worry. We’re together and we can fight. Your brothers won’t stand by and do nothing. They will come after us.”

Holly sniffles and rubs her cheek on my shoulder. “It happened so fast. They came out of nowhere. One of the men popped out of the fucking closet. They were waiting for us. I don’t even know when they could’ve gotten in.” Holly closes her eyes, inhaling slow breaths. “Do you think it was my dad? Do you think he knows I’m alive?”

I didn’t think about that, and now that she mentions it, I can only imagine how pissed he would be and what he would do. I already know the man is a monster.

“I don’t know. We were set up by someone. Could be your dad. Could’ve been the Platinum Shores Pack. I’m sure we’ll find out soon. I think the van is slowing.” I shift and sit up, pulling Holly to her feet. “We’re going to make a run for it, okay? We’re not going to just submit to them. They won’t kill us. They need us for something.”

Holly swallows hard, gripping my arm tighter. “I will distract them. You’re the one who needs to get away. My brothers bonded with you. You’re everything to them.”

I shake my head, clutching the sidewall as the van comes to a complete stop. “So are you. We’re family. Neither of us is more important, and we need to fight together. I will not leave you. Now, we need to attack all the soft spots. That’s what your brothers said. Go for the groin. Go for their cheeks and eyes, their stomachs, their throats. Do whatever you can.”

It’s easier said than done. These men are twice our size, and they have weapons. They could use them on us.

“They’re going to regret this.” Holly’s voice strengthens with her comment, her fear turning into anger.

I really hope so because I’m scared. What if they enslave us or something? What if they traffic us to another territory to some awful pack? It’s a brutal possibility, and a life I refuse to live. My guys have shown me what I deserve in mates and alphas, and I won’t settle for anything less. I won’t give in or give up to another.

A car door slams, startling me, and I step protectively in front of Holly, wanting to do whatever I can to help her. I listen to the muffled voices outside, realizing that a woman speaks to our captures. Is it Madame Tamsin? Maybe she managed to get our location from the Platinum Shores Pack and is out for revenge for what happened to her brother. Maybe that’s why they took Holly.

I don’t get a lot of time to think about it, because the back door clicks as it unlocks. I fist my hands, preparing to charge. I know I’m only going to have seconds.

Holly shuffles her feet behind me, turning toward the side door. Someone clicks the lock on that one too. Fuck me. They must expect that we’re going to fight. I don’t know which one to focus on.

“Settle down, dears. You’re not in any danger. Fighting is pointless, because you’re in my compound and there is no way out. So be good girls, and I will be good to you.” The feminine voice sounds through the door as someone taps against it. “My name is Madame Samara. I’m your new handler.”

Our new handler? She’s another alpha like Madame Tamsin.

“What do we do?” Holly whispers, keeping her voice low as she steps closer to me, pressing her chest into the back of my shoulder.

I don’t want to admit that I have no fucking clue, but if she’s anything like Madame Tamsin, then it’s in our best interest to submit and go along with her commands at least for a little bit until we can strategize a plan.

“I’m going to open the door now,” Madame Samara says, easing the back door open an inch, letting in bright sunlight that cuts across my face, blinding me for a second.

“Don’t fight her,” I whisper, swiveling to Holly. “We need to plan better. I doubt she’s lying about being in a compound, and if that’s the case, there really is no good way out.”

The door widens and the cargo space illuminates with sunshine, dimming my vision. I blink my eyes a couple of times as a silhouette comes into view, and Holly slides her fingers through mine and squeezes my hand. I hold her tightly. If we’re not going to fight, then I’m going to do everything I can to stay by her side. They will not separate us. That will be a huge mistake, and something I’m willing to risk getting hurt over.

“We won’t fight as long as you don’t try to separate us. We’re family.” I pull Holly closer until I can wrap my arm around her, and she secures her arm around me, ensuring that if they disagree that it’s not easy for them to pull us apart.
