Enzo spins and whacks the guy on the back of the head. “Shut the fuck up. You’re going to scare her. She wasn’t working with Madame Tamsin. I think the bitch woman was transporting her to the Platinum Shores Pack. They must’ve had some sort of agreement for one of her slaves.”

The other man growls in response and whispers an apology to me, surprising me. The last thing I expected was for this rough man to have a gentle side, and it helps settle my nerves.

I try my best to look around, but he strides too quickly, and all I can see is the sparkling concrete from outside shift into gleaming granite floors. Decorative wallpaper lines a hallway, and I bounce as he climbs a wide set of stairs that takes us to an elevator. This is unlike any house I’ve ever seen. The pristine cleanliness of it doesn’t give me any clue of what kind of men they are. The only fragrances I can smell are warm musk and something growing in intensity. It’s the alpha. I think he finally recognizes my scent as an omega, and it’s getting to him. Because I can recognize his lust the same as I had with the man with the stunning blue eyes. Wilder.

I remain quiet, tipping my head up, trying to sneak quick peeks around, but it’s hard on my neck. I glimpse a decorative table with big bouquets of white flowers and metal artwork twisted on the wall.

Enzo slows at the end of the grand hallway, and I wiggle, wishing he would set me down. As if he can read my mind, he flips me and plops me in front of him, giving me a view of the double doors leading into a grand suite four times the size of my apartment. A massive king-size bed sits in the middle against the back wall with four posts and a heavy, intricately carved headboard. A gray rug softens the gleam of the dark hardwood floors, and a glass case displays...more sex toys than I’ve ever seen in my life. I inhale a deep breath, trying to catch the scent of another omega, but there is nothing here. Only his pure, unaltered fragrance of vetiver and mint.

“The bathroom is through that door. Take a shower and get cleaned up. I can’t stand the bitch’s smell on you. I’ll leave you something to wear on my bed. Try not to touch anything while I’m gone.” Enzo nudges me forward, getting me to stroll into the room. His room. That fucking giant display case belongs to him, and I can’t stop myself from wanting to see what kind of kinky ass this man is.

“Did you hear me, baby? Shower. Now.” Enzo flicks his fingers toward the open door to a dark bathroom. “I won’t be long.”

Without waiting for me to respond, he slams the door behind me. I remain frozen in place, listening to his footsteps vanish. I spin around and lock my fingers around the doorknob, flinging it open.

“What the fuck?” I mutter, staring at the tall bookcase blocking the door. He couldn’t lock me in, so he trapped me. The bastard.

“Shower!” Enzo calls, his voice booming from the hallway.

I startle and slam the door shut. He was testing me, and I failed.

I need to get my shit together and mind my manners. This isn’t my home, and I’m not a guest here.

Squaring my shoulders, I force my feet to move. I’ll do what he says for now. I need to wait this out. I need to strategize. They can’t see my escape coming.

It’s the only way I’ll get out of this.

I just hope it’s not too late.

This pack already proved they’re dangerous, and I’m pretty sure they’ll eat me alive.

Chapter 4

Enzo

Princes of Gilded Sands

“DoesshehaveanID? Anything we can search the database for?” Arsenio scrubs the back of his neck, watching as Wilder and Desmond unload the crates of bribe money, top-notch arsenal, and a couple of hard drives with classified information about the other leaders of the area’s Pack Regime.

We knew that Tamsin was coercing and bribing several alphas in Saint Vista, and now we have what we need to interfere with the power move the Platinum Shores Pack currently tries to make, buying their way to the edge of our city.

“All she had was a duffle bag of clothes, some photos, and wedding rings. Maybe she was kidnapped and being trafficked.” Desmond tosses the bag to Arsenio, only to return to the back of the van to help Wilder slide the last container from the van.

“Give that here. I told her I’d be back, and she’s scared.” I snatch the bag from my brother and tuck it under my arm without going through it.

“She fucking should be. We need to find out where she’s from so we can get her out of here. You know she can’t stay.” Wilder growls with his words, flicking his gaze toward the east side of the palace where I took the supposed omega. I couldn’t decipher her scent from Tamsin’s, and I know my brothers don’t fully believe who she says she is.

I can smell a damn omega from a mile away, especially a claimed one, so this whole fucked up situation messes with my head. She knows too much already, and while we all know she can’t stay here, we can’t exactly just let her leave either.

Fucking fuck. We should’ve checked the van, but we needed to get the tracker out and leave the area before Tamsin knew we took her shit.

“You both need to chill out. No one saw, and if she was being sold into a household, she might not say anything. We just need to talk to her. I feel bad. You saw how frightened she was. It didn’t help that Wilder suggested we kill her. Like what the fuck man? The other guy deserved it. Can’t just go around killing people without a good reason, asshole.” Desmond huffs and rocks on his heels, shoving his hands into his pockets. He’s always been more thoughtful, easy-going, and our good sense. He’s the only beta out of us siblings, and the only one not up to take our father’s throne.

“You know we have to do whatever is necessary. There are several packs who want what we have, and we need to protect ourselves. Dad is growing weak, and you know that the shit with Holly caused huge fucking problems.” Arsenio speaks up for Wilder, reminding us for the millionth time about what we’re up against. Because Holly was betrothed to an alpha away from the kingdom, we ensured she wouldn’t bond. It left a lot of animosity and the Valley Point Pack still wants compensation.

“Killing this girl isn’t necessary. Now, get the shit we need, so we can go on a run. There is supposed to be another drop in a couple of hours. We need to be ready.” Desmond looks at me. “Go back and find out who she is. And goddamn it, don’t scare her. Don’t touch her. Don’t let her touch you. We can’t have that shit distracting us. If it turns out to be a problem, call me, and I will handle it.” Because as a beta, Desmond isn’t as consumed by our birthright orders. He might not be as powerful as us, but he knows his shit, and we’d be lost without him.

I nod my head and crack my knuckles. “I got it handled. I already know what we’re up against.”
