Logan perked up. “You were?”

I was grateful for the cover of darkness as I untied the front of my sarong to reveal a black- and white-polka dot tankini. “What do you think?”

Logan’s face fell slack and his pupils dilated. He inched closer to me and then his arms slid around my waist and his hands roved over my back. “I think you’re the sexiest woman alive.”

I rolled my eyes. “Don’t exaggerate.”

“I’m not.” His mouth hovered close to mine. “You are . . ..” He didn’t finish the sentence, because then he was kissing me.

And this time, I responded.

As soon as I opened my mouth to him, he swiped his tongue against mine and my senses went wild. He tasted incredible, and he smelled of saltwater and aftershave.

Our bodies moulded together as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders. He kissed me with a slow passion that ignited a passion of my own deep within—a passion entirely different to anything I’d ever experienced before.

After a few moments, Logan broke the kiss. He swiped the tips of his thumbs across my cheeks. “You’re flushed.”

I swore those two words made me blush even more.

He chuckled and fluttered another kiss over my lips. “I could keep kissing and kissing you.”

“I’ve never felt like this before.” I sounded like a broken record. “I want to feel more.”

Logan drew his bottom lip between his teeth. “They delivered my new bed yesterday . . ..”

I gulped.

“I’d never presume to do anything you don’t want me to do,” he assured me.

I believed him.

“May I ask you a question, Aria?”

“Sure.”

He took a moment to approach it carefully. “I assume since you’ve never been kissed, you’ve never been sexual with anyone before, either?”

This time my blush wasn’t one of desire, but one of embarrassment. “No. Never.”

“Don’t be embarrassed. It’s nothing to be ashamed of. You’ve been smart enough to protect yourself from giving it away to the wrong person. If I’m not that person, either, then so be it. I want you to make that choice yourself when you’re ready.”

“I’ll let you know. But you know, I’d still like to see your place and your new bed.” I couldn’t believe the words tumbling out of my mouth.

Logan nodded his consent. “Okay.” He glanced back at Lily and Zoey. “It smells like those hot dogs are ready.”

I tied up my sarong and, hand-in-hand, we made our way back to the fire.

Excitement and nervousness whirled around inside me as Logan led me to the front door of his gorgeous Hampton-style house a few blocks away from the beach. I felt like I would hit a point of no return as soon as I entered his house. He was taking me to a place that was intimate and personal. He was taking me home.

Logan kissed me on the doorstep before opening his front door and escorting me inside. “Welcome to my place.”

We walked from an empty room at the front of the house, through to the open plan kitchen and living area, where I noticed a navy blue three-seater couch with a dark timber frame and a round, glass and timber dining table with four dark timber chairs. Navy cushions that matched the couch were attached to them.

“I decided to get a few more things aside from the bed.”

I went and sank into the middle of the couch. “I like it.”
