The last thing I saw was him leading her into the meeting room before I was jumped from behind.

The baggie came off my head and I thrashed out at the person closest to me, my fist connecting with his face.

“Whoa, take it easy, Twinkle Toes!” Mark exclaimed as he cricked his jaw. “It’s us. We saw the perfect time to get you out and we did.”

I allowed my eyes to adjust to the darkness and frowned at Mark. “How the fuck are you here already?”

“We flew up in the company jet,” came a voice from the front of the vehicle we were in.

I looked over at the driver to discover Liam behind the wheel.

“It’s going to be okay, man. These guys are dope.”

I stared at the familiar young man in astonishment. “Tyrone?” I exclaimed.

“I guess the boy listened to ya.” Mark patted my shoulder. “Mission accomplished.”

I shook him off as my anger skyrocketed. “This isn’t over, man, not by a long shot!”

“Your part of the job is done. Now it’s up to us to take the leader out,” Aaron said, his voice lacking emotion.

“You don’t understand. It’s not over for me because they’ve got my girl. They’ve got Aria.”

“They’vewhat?” Liam turned slightly, but honestly, I preferred if he would focus on the road. I was no good to Aria if I wound up in a car accident.

“What do you mean, they’ve got Aria? What is she even doing there?” Mark demanded.

“Fucked if I know! All I know is they have her, and I’m not going to leave her there!”

“Of course, we’re not fucking leaving her there,” Mark grumbled. “Turn around, Dempsey! Gear up, guys.”

I felt Aaron give me the death stare as he followed Mark’s lead. Liam took the vehicle into a hard U-turn.

Tyrone grinned big. “This commando shit is fucking awesome! Maybe I’ll do this instead of being in a gang.”

“That’s SEALs to you,” I said, nudging the boy. “That’s not a bad career choice, Ty. Not a bad one at all.”

I joined the guys in gearing up. I wasn’t sitting out on this, especially since it was my girlfriend in the firing line.

Liam found a parking spot in an alley a couple of blocks away from the club and we all piled out of the vehicle. He glanced at Tyrone. “Hey, kid. You want a taste of being a SEAL?”

Tyrone’s eyes lit up at the sight of us triple-checking our gear, which probably looked super cool to a civilian. “Yeah!”

“Sweet. Look after our ride.” Liam tossed the keys to Tyrone and you could see his excitement drop somewhat.

“Hey.” Liam’s commanding voice drew Tyrone’s undivided attention. “You do a good job of watching our vehicle, and I’ll give you a glowing recommendation if you decide to join up.”

That caught Ty’s attention. “Okay, man.”

“What was that, SEAL?”

Tyrone stood at attention. “Yes, sir!”

“‘Atta boy.”

With an encouraging smile, I patted Ty’s shoulder and then we were off.
