Page 115 of Desiring Them

Jeremy’s strong arms wrapped around my body and his beard tickled me when he kissed my neck. “Merry Christmas.”

“Merry Christmas,” I mumbled back.

“You all right, love?”

I managed to flash him a sincere smile. “Yeah, I’m perfect.”

“You and Riva, both.” He pecked my mouth. “I know last night won’t have erased what happened at the gala, but I hope it helped.”

I turned in his arms. Letting the dress drop, I stroked his chest. “Yes, it did, Jeremy. Thank you. You’re both amazing. Whatever happens between myself and Augustus, I know I’m not alone and am surrounded by love.”

“Good. Because we love you so much, it aches, baby. I know that’s as true for Riva as it is for me,” he said, then we kissed for a few wonderful moments.

“I’m going to kill him, you know.”

I knew straight away who Jeremy was talking about. “Don’t worry, so am I.”

“He’s been playing yo-yo with your emotions for too long. Are you going to keep putting up with his behavior?” I closed my eyes against the tears burning in them. I tried to answer Jeremy’s question, but I couldn’t find the words, so he hugged me. “No pressure, sugar. You need to make your own decisions about him. I’ll accept whatever you decide to do, all right?”

“Thank you.” I stepped back and glanced down at my naked body. “Do you, maybe, have a shirt I can borrow?”

“Yeah, hold up.” He went across to a drawer and pulled out a green T-shirt.

I pulled it on and noticed a dagger emblazoned over the heart. I fingered the design. “What’s this?”

“Hoofing.”

“Huh?” I scrunched up my face.

Jeremy chuckled and dropped a kiss onto the top of my head. “It’s a Royal Marines term. It means amazing, and it looksamazingon you. It’s one of my Royal Marines shirts.”

“‘Hoofing?’”

“Mm-hmm.”

“You’re hoofing,” I said, trying the word out.

Jeremy scooped me up. “You’re one hoofing woman.”

I wrapped my arms around him and kissed him. “This will be a hoofing Christmas.”

“Yeah, it fucking is.” He kissed me once more before setting me back down and slapping my ass. “Get that girl of ours up. It’s time for Christmas breakfast.”

“What’s for Christmas breakfast?”

“Just you wait and see.”

Jeremy made his way to his kitchenette as a knock came at the door.

“I’ll get it.” I bounced over to the door and made sure the T-shirt was adequately covering me before pulling it open. My mood dropped again instantly. “What are you doing here?”

Augustus folded his hands together in front of him. “Looking for you.”

“Great, you found me. So, what?” I paused and studied the bruises on his eye and jaw. “Better yet, what the hell happened to your face?”

“I got into it with Cruz. He heard what happened between us,” Augustus said with a sigh.

“Good.” I smiled almost gleefully.
