“Oh, gosh, it’s so beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous, honestly. I’m a tiny bit jealous, I’ll admit. I’ve always dreamed of a big, white wedding with all the trimmings. Youhaveto let me help you plan.”

I laughed at Riva’s enthusiasm. “That would be so fun. You know, you could make it legal with Jeremy.”

Riva gulped down her mouthful of potatoes, and everyone went incredibly silent.

“Well, why don’t you?” I pushed.

“I-I don’t think… I’m very young, and I don’t think he would want—”

“Yes, I would,” Jeremy interrupted. “You know I would. I love you, baby girl.”

“You’d have me as your wife even though I’m barely twenty?”

“Your age doesn’t matter, Reeve. As long as you feel it’s right. Do you?” Jeremy asked.Riva nodded silently. Suddenly overcome with emotion, she began to cry.“Oh, sweetheart, we didn’t mean to upset you.” Jeremy stroked the tears away from her cheeks.

“Riva, I’m sorry, sweetie. I didn’t mean to push.” I felt terrible.

“No. No, you’ve got it wrong. I’m happy.” Riva smiled through her tears. She sought out Jeremy’s embrace, and he took her in his arms and kissed her tears away.

“We’ll have a double wedding, yeah?” Jeremy suggested.

Riva laughed through her tears. “That sounds brilliant.”

Cruz dropped his napkin onto the table. “Excuse me, please.” He got to his feet and stomped around the apartment, grumbling to himself.

“Oi, Cruz, what’s up, mate?”

When Cruz didn’t answer Jeremy, I went to him. I placed my hands on his arm. “Cruz?”

“Fuck, Sienna, I’m falling in love with you, too, don’t you get it? While I sit here watching the four of you make romantic wedding plans, I get what?”

“You getme.”

“How? How the bloody hell do I get you as well?” With a shake of his head, Cruz stormed out of the room.

Cruz was sitting on the front steps of the building, still grumbling to himself about dumb luck or something, when I found him.

“Hey,” I said, hanging back a little to gauge his reaction to me coming after him.

Cruz’s shoulders slumped. “Hey. Sorry for raining on your parade in there.”

“No need to apologize for your feelings.” I stood in front of him. “I’m sorry we made you feel left out.”

“Call me reckless, strawberry, because we barely know each other. But is it so wrong for me to want to be bound to you as well?”

He looked so sexy when he leaned his slender frame back against the step behind him.

“No. I’d love for that to happen, Cruz, with you and your brother… if he wants me, that is.” I lowered my gaze.

“He does. Trust me, Augustus is burning from the inside out for you. But he’s scared of the flame. We have shitty parents. He doesn’t want to end up like our father. He doesn’t want to treat you like Dad treats Mummy.”

I held back a laugh. “You call your mom, Mummy? A big, tough rock star like you?”

“Hey. That’s not what this conversation is about.” He scowled at me.

I gulped. “Sorry.” I threw my hands into the air. “Look, today, I kind of gave him an ultimatum.”

Cruz hung his head. “You what?”
