Page 5 of Desiring Them

I turned a corner too wide into oncoming traffic.

“Left.Left,”he yelled, pure panic in his tone.

When I swerved the car back into the correct lane, some passing cars honked at me. “See? Fine.”

Augustus straightened his jacket. “If you say so.” We drove a little further, and I felt his eyes on me the entire time. “Now, there’s a roundabout up here. Concentrate. They can be tricky things.”

“Aug, it’s only a roundabout.”

“Yes, and you’re trained to use the opposite side of the… did you just call meAug?”

Oh, shit. Did I?

“No,” I quickly denied.

He brushed the backs of his fingers across my cheek. “You should call me that more often.”

My breath shuddered out of me. His touch affected me more than I liked to admit.

As I reached the roundabout, I slowed the car and looked both ways. While I waited for a couple of cars to drive by, I felt Augustus’ fingers move to the nape of my neck. The seat’s leather squeaked, then his lips were on my throat. I swallowed the moan that threatened to escape from me just in time. It would’ve been wise to push him away, but I liked what he was doing. I shouldn’t have wanted him, but I did.

Augustus was a force of nature, a pain in the ass, a temporary model who went after everything he wanted with gusto… unless he had to get up early, it seemed.

He cupped my breast, and my nipple pebbled under his stroking thumb.

“Augustus, I’m trying to drive.”

“You drive. I’ll have my fun.”

I tried my best to concentrate on the road when his hand moved beneath my layers. Then he shifted the cup of my bra aside and rolled my nipple between his soft fingertips.I tried to force myself to focus on my driving and entered the roundabout lane.

Augustus glanced out the windshield. “Sienna, wrongway, wrong way,” he shouted, but it was too late.

Tires screeched, metal crunched, and we both screamed. Thankfully, our seat belts held, but there we were on a cold London morning, holding up traffic because I went the wrong way around a roundabout.

“Fuck.Fuck. FUCK.” I bashed the steering wheel and got louder with each outburst of the word.

Augustus leaned back in his seat. “Well, this is going to be a mess. I guess we’d better get out and take a look at the damage, huh?”

After adjusting my clothing, I unclipped my seat belt. Horns blared behind us, and the guy I’d hit was standing in front of the car, gesticulating at me and shouting. Augustus and I cautiously approached the man. I needed to face up to what I’d done, whether I wanted to or not.

The man was in my face instantly. “What the bloody hell were you thinking, going around a roundabout the wrong way? Look what you’ve done to my car, lady.”

I glanced at his green Camry. The front was totaled. “I’m sorry, I—”

“Who gave you a fucking license?”

“Back it up… I’m American, okay? You try driving on the opposite side of the road sometime. It’s not easy. Especially with a… wayward passenger who doesn’t like to be on time for work.”

Augustus pulled back and pointed at himself.

“What about the rest of us who are trying to get to work? Now we’ll all be late. I’m calling the police. You’d better bloody be insured.” The man dialed a number on his cell phone and lifted the device to his ear.

I wasn’t sure if I was insured for car accidents. I didn’t know if Linda’s car had insurance. It was a BMW. Surely, it did.I tugged at the square collar of my black work dress and tried to slow down my breathing. I was starting to hyperventilate.

Augustus took my shoulders. “Hey, Sienna, steady on. Deep breaths.”

“I’m going to jail. I’m going to lose my job and get locked up, then they’re going to throw me out of the country.”
