“I get the idea.” I smiled when Cruz hugged me tightly. “What are you up to now?”

He pulled back. “I need to do some songwriting for the new album.”

My eyes grew wide.

Cruz chuckled. “Want to see me in action?”

“Yeah. I’ve never watched a songwriter work before.”

“All right then. Let me see if Jeremy would like to join us.”

I unabashedly checked out Cruz’s lithe body as he went across to Jeremy’s door and knocked.

The handsome giant pulled it back, dressed in a half-open robe and a cup of tea in his hand.

Cruz was taken aback. “Did you sleep in, cousin?”

“Don’t be ridiculous. You know I don’t sleep in. I had a shower after my run and felt like a cuppa. Would either of you care for one?” Jeremy’s gaze floated across to me, and a small smile formed across his mouth.

I smiled right back, like a total idiot. “Morning.”

“You finally getting home?” Jeremy asked me.

“Yeah. I got some coffee from our favorite place on the way here.”

“Oh, it’s our place now?”

“You bet.”

He pinned me with a mock glare. “Where’s mine, hmm?”

“Forgive me?” I asked with a super sweet grin.

Jeremy grunted, but his ensuing wink put me at ease. We were good.

“Blimey, this is like a game of Piggy in thefuckingMiddle,” Cruz said. “When do I get a turn?”

“When you start writing a song,” I replied. I looked back at Jeremy in awe. “He’s going to let me watch him write a song, Jer. Want to help out?”

Jeremy narrowed his eyes at Cruz. “Since when do you let anyone but the band in on the production process?”

“Since she said she’d come with me to Dad’s birthday.” Cruz leaned his arm against the doorjamb.

“Yeah, I got my invite as well.” Jeremy drew his mouth into a thin line and gestured to me with his teacup. “Are you sure you want to subject her to that?”

“Well, if you’re all going, and it’s really that bad, it won’t matter because we’ll be able to stick together, right?” I shrugged.

“Sugar, you’ve got no idea what they’re like. I was intent on turning down the invite.” Jeremy sipped from his tea.

I walked over to Jeremy and slipped my arms around his waist. “But I want to meet your family.”

“No, you don’t,” both guys said in unison.

“They’re not my family,” Jeremy grumbled.

“Hey,” Cruz snapped.

“You know how I feel about them, Cruz. My father abandoned my mum when I was young, and you hate them so much that you renounced your title. So why do you want to go so bad?”
