“Okay,” Grace said.

“And you two are awful actors. You planned on Archer and me spending time together and came up with this little ruse to get me to agree. For the record, I’m always up for spending alone time with each of you. I think it’s good for us.”

“We agree,” Archer said. “So, no poker then.”

“No,” Jon said, making a face that had them all laughing.

Grace crawled from between the two of them just after the sun came up and Jon moaned something about it being way too early. “I’m not sure why, but I just can’t sleep. Maybe I got too much sleep yesterday after we got to the hotel. But I’m not sleepy.”

“Or maybe you’re just a nut job who’s excited to be turned loose in the city to do some shopping,” Jon countered. “Personally, I’d choose sleep.”

“It’s a shame that I’m not going to let you get very much rest while Grace is out, babe,” Archer teased.

“Doesn’t anyone sleep in France?” Jon grumbled.

“Not when there is so much to do,” Grace insisted. “I’m going to shower and grab some breakfast down in the lobby. Do you two want to put on pants and join me or are you just getting room service?”

“Room service,” they said in unison. Gracie giggled and grabbed some of her things to head off to the bathroom, shutting the door behind herself.

“She seems happy here,” Jon said.

“We all do,” Archer agreed. “There’s something about France that brings out the best in people.”

“I think she’s unhappy in her job,” Jon whispered.

“She has been for a long time,” Archer agreed. “She wants more responsibility at work, but they aren’t giving it to her. I keep telling her to hold on, that one day they’ll see her potential, but our poor girl might not be right for that place. The longer she’s there, the more they treat her like a doormat, giving her all of the assignments that no one else wants.”

“I know that she’s a bit excited about the assignment that she was just given. Who knows, maybe her luck is turning,” Jon said.

“Maybe. I also know that a part of Grace wants to start a family,” Archer said. “I know that she sounded laid back about the whole topic, last night at dinner, but she’s not. We were trying to have a baby just before I left her and well, you know what happened then.”

“How long were you two trying?” Jon asked. This was the first that he had heard that they were actively trying to get pregnant. He worried about what would happen to the three of them if he told them that he just wasn’t ready for that kind of responsibility.

“Just two months,” Archer said. “I think that’s what lit a fire under me to come to you when I did. I knew that if she ended up pregnant, she might not want to add a third to our relationship and you and I might never get the chance to be together.”

“I’m glad that it worked out this way, Archer, but I’m still not sure that I’m ready for a kid. It’s such a big responsibility,” Jon said.

“You’re right, a baby is a huge responsibility, but we’ll get through it all together,” he promised.

Jon nodded, “You know, I’m starving now that I’m awake. How about we grab some breakfast with Grace and then you and I can come back up here and not talk about babies for the rest of the afternoon,” he teased.

“Now, that sounds like a perfect idea,” Archer agreed. They’d spend the rest of their alone time tangled up together until Gracie got back from shopping and then, hopefully, they’d convince her to join them.

It was their last night in France and he was so excited to take Archer and Gracie out on the town to celebrate their time in his new favorite place with them. He found the two of them in the bedroom of their suite and Jon felt as if he had walked in on a private moment between the two of them. He was still trying to overcome feeling like a third wheel with them sometimes, but that was his issue, not theirs. He was sure that it would take time to find his way through his feelings.

They were whispering about something and God, Grace looked as though she had been crying. He couldn’t stand when she cried, and his inner caveman roared to life when he thought that Archer might have said or done something to upset Gracie.

“What’s going on here, guys?” he asked.

“Nothing,” Gracie quickly covered.

“Grace,” Archer warned. “You can’t hide this from him. We have to tell him.”

“Tell me what?” Jon asked, trying to stay calm. He was sure that they had changed their minds about the three of them. Arch and Grace had their fun, adding a third, and now, they wanted their lives back. He wasn’t sure he could blame them or that this would be a surprise to him. Jon had secretly been waiting for this to happen since Archer showed up on his doorstep, telling him that he left Grace and didn’t know what to do.
