Jon

Jon decided that texting Grace again wasn’t a good idea. He toyed with the thought of calling her instead, but Archer insisted that she’d respond better to text. Plus, his best friend pointed out that if Grace thought that he was lying, she’d be able to pick it up in his tone. She knew them both better than anyone.

Two days passed while he tried to decide what to do next. Archer had been away on business for the better part of the week and Jon was feeling pretty lonely. Finally having them both back in his life made him want to be with them—both of them, but that might be just a pipe dream if Grace didn’t agree to what they were planning.

His cell chimed with a new text, and he was sure that it was Archer checking in on him. He had called or texted him daily while he was away. Instead, he found a text from Grace.

You around?She asked.

Yeah, how are you?He was sure that he already knew the answer to his question. Gracie had to be miserable and going out of her mind with worry over Archer. He knew that he would be.

Hanging in. I just wondered if you had heard from Archer lately.Yeah, it was this type of question that he was trying to avoid. He wouldn’t lie to her, not even if Arch wanted him to. He quickly called Archer and was happy when he picked up on the second ring.

“You busy?” he asked.

“I’ve got a few minutes,” Archer said. “What’s up?”

“I’m texting with Gracie. She reached out to me just now to ask if I’ve heard from you. What do I say?” Jon asked.

“Tell her the truth,” Archer said. “That I’m on business but you’ve spoken with me here and there.”

“Hold on,” Jon said. He texted that to Gracie and waited for her to reply.

“She said she wants to know why you haven’t called her yourself,” Jon said when her reply came in.

“Tell her that I’m not ready,” Archer insisted.

“This is bullshit,” Jon grumbled. “I don’t like being in the middle of this, Arch,” he said.

“I get it, but we have a plan, and we need to stick with it. You need to build a relationship with her, Jon, or this will have all been for nothing. I will have to find a way to mend things with my wife when we’re all together. I’m sure that it will take her some time to get over everything that I’ve done to her, but you need to be there for her now. Tell her that she can talk to you if she needs to. Be her friend, Jon. Hell, be more than her friend. Make Gracie feel good about herself again.”

“This is so fucked up,” Jon grumbled. “How can I do all of that without you here, Arch?” he asked. “How do I even know what to say or not say to her?”

“Because you know Gracie,” Archer assured. “You two were together for a long time before I butted into the picture. I bet you two will be able to pick things up just where you left off, especially with me out of the picture,” Archer said.

“You know, most guys would not be all right with another guy moving in on their wife, Arch,” Jon chided.

“Well, I’m not most guys and you and I have a plan, remember. We both want her and it’s the only way for the two of us to be together. I don’t want to cheat on my wife, so getting her to agree to be with the both of us is the only way. I won’t lose her, and I can’t lose you either, Jon. Please, at least try for me,” Archer begged.

“Fine,” Jon grumbled. “I’ll try, but it’s not just for you. I’m trying for me too because I want this to work out for the three of us. I want you too, Arch and I’ve wanted Gracie since she dumped my ass for you. So, I’m in.” He agreed to call Archer back later after he and Grace were finished texting and fill him in on all the details. Jon ended the call and realized that Gracie had asked him if he was still around.

“Shit,” he breathed.

Here.He waited for her to answer back and when she didn’t immediately do so, he wanted to kick himself for not paying attention to her or their conversation.

Oh good. I had to run to the ladies’ room, sorry. I’m at work.

How is work these days?Jon felt comfortable with small talk. Hell, he was good at small talk, it was all the sexy, dirty talk that Archer wanted him to do that made him cringe a little. Grace had said that her favorite part of being with him was the way he took control and dominated her, but he wasn’t sure if he could still do that with her. That was a time when she belonged to him and now, Grace belonged to Archer. He needed to get past that if he was going to follow through with their plan.

Do you really want to talk about work? She asked.

No. I really want to know what you’re wearing today. In fact, send me a picture. He was teasing but then her text came through with a picture of her in her black almost see-through blouse and black bra underneath, complete with a form-fitting black pencil skirt and heels that screamed, “Fuck me”. God, she was beautiful.

Wow! He texted back. You look hot, baby.Jon thought that maybe he had overstepped with her until she texted back a heart emoji.

Your turn. Send me a picture. The thought of sending a picture of himself to Gracie wearing his frumpy sweater made him cringe. So, Jon decided to just take it off, sending her a picture of his bare chest.

You’ve been working out, haven’t you?He had been, and it was nice of her to notice.
