“Sure you can,” Ethan said. “You’re practically already living with us, this will just make it official, but first, I think we need to get you checked out. That bump on your head looks nasty and your arm needs stitches. I take it that was your blood in the foyer then?” he asked.
“Yeah, unless getting nailed in the nuts makes a guy bleed,” she taunted.
“Wait, you nailed James in the balls?” Linc asked.
“Yep,” she proudly boasted. Ethan wasn’t sure if he had ever felt prouder of anyone. The answer was probably no, but he’d have to save his praises for later, right now, they had company.
“Cops are here, and they have EMTs with them. They’ll be able to stitch you up and check out your head,” Ethan said.
“What if I have to go to the hospital?” she asked.
“Then, we’ll go with you,” Linc assured. “You won’t be alone again until James is found and taken into custody.”
“Thank you,” she breathed. “For coming to find me and promising to keep me safe. Thank you for everything.”
“That’s something you don’t ever have to thank us for,” Ethan breathed.
