Chapter 21 - Maddie: Honeymoon

We had barely made it onto the plane in time. Before, our honeymoon had been designed to be a ruse. It was meant to trick people into thinking that this was all real. Now to a certain extent, it was real.

I had gotten us two first-class tickets to New York. We would only be in the city for a day before we headed to the Hamptons for a few days. When I had told Marcus at the time, he said that he didn’t care, but I knew places like that weren’t his speed, and I didn’t want to risk running into any of my old ‘friends’ in the city.

If I had known the tables would turn so drastically, I would have booked us two tickets to Paris or Bali, but it was too late to back out.

I didn’t care, though. As long as I was with Marcus, then it would be fine. I should have been wary of this little dangerous road we were heading down, but my deprived heart wanted to feel. And Marcus always managed to make me feel.

“You really could have just gotten us economy seats, stink bug. You didn’t need to spend a year's wage on these seats,” he said, as he sipped his complimentary champagne.

I rolled my eyes. “Does it look like I do economy, Marcus? As long as you are my husband, you have to get used to the nicer things in life.”

He sipped on his champagne. “You know what? I’m not even mad about it.”

I laughed softly, as we got buckled into our seats. Within a few minutes, we were up in the air and headed to the great state of New York. I wasn’t technically heading back to the city, but I was still nervous.

I still hadn’t spoken to my parents since that disaster of a call. My mother had texted me once, but it was one of those forwarded messages which I ignored. Other than that, I had no idea if they were even dead or alive.

Marcus reached over the middle part of our seats and grabbed my hand. “What’s wrong?”

I shook my head, but then he gave me an incredulous look that said he doesn’t believe me.

“I’m just thinking about my parents. We had a conversation over the phone a few weeks back, and it didn’t go over smoothly.”

“What happened?”

“I don’t want to bore you with the details.”

“I’m your husband.” He wiggled his eyes brows. “We share things. Come on, unload your familial burdens on me.”

“My parents aren’t happy that I married you. Apparently, there was a plan to marry me off to some business partner’s son. My dad said some things, and I said some things, and then the call ended.”

I was keeping things very vague because I didn’t want to unpack the load that was Richard Vandlewoods.

“Can we just enjoy this week away? I just want to be happy with you.”

A smile crept onto his face. “Yeah. From here on out, there will be no talk of the outside world. It will just be you and me.”

And so our honeymoon began.

We landed at JFK at eleven. I would have expected to be tired and ready for bed, but I was wide awake. I was excited for what was to come because, if last time had been any indication of what to expect, I was in for a crazy ride.

We were sitting in the car the hotel had sent for me. My head was leaning on Marcus’ shoulder, and his hand was resting on my bare knee.

I was in a cute white cocktail dress that had a flowing skirt. I had picked it out the same day I had found my wedding dress.

Marcus’ hand slowly began gliding up my skirt, and I stilled. My eyes shot to where his hand was traveling up, and my blood heated. He left a fiery hot trail, as his fingers traveled the inner part of my thigh.

My breath hitched when his fingers came in contact with my lips.

He stilled.

He turned his head, so he was muttering into my hair. Only I could hear. “I see we chose to go commando.”

He rubbed his fingers against my slickness. I had to bite down on my lips to suppress a moan. He rubbed my clit with the ghost of touches. I arched my core toward him wanting more of his touch.

I was fully aware that we were not alone, and that only turned me on more.
