“I think it’s totes adorbs, as Alex would say.”

She leaned closer, her voice dropping. “Does anyone know the two of you are together?”

My mouth fell open, but before I could even come close to fathoming a reply, a hand splayed so low on my back, some might call it my butt. From my other side, Jimmy chuckled, aligning his body with mine.

“What are you two whispering about over here?” he asked.

“Jimmy, you need to remove your hand now.” My teeth ground tight, keeping my voice as modulated as possible so no attention would be drawn to what was going on behind my back.

His hand trailed up the curve of my spine, but he didn’t remove it.

“Sorry, babe. I went lower than I intended.” He sidled even closer. “Won’t happen again unless you want it to.”

“I have a boyfriend,” I whispered.

“What?” His forehead crinkled, and it seemed he really hadn’t heard me. His head dipped beside mine, his ear beside my mouth. “Repeat that for me, babe. Too many concerts, my ears aren’t what they used to be.”

My mouth opened to speak, but I never had a chance. Jimmy was pushed away in a blur, Alex standing in his place, seething. His skin glowed red, the veins on his neck standing out in stark relief.

“She told you to stop touching her, man,” Alex hissed.

Jimmy stepped forward, slightly perplexed, an edge of anger dancing behind his eyes. “Don’t ever touch me like that again, Murray. I don’t play.”

Alex jabbed a finger in his face. “I don’t fucking play when I see your hands all over Yael like you have any right to.”

Jimmy’s arms flew out to the side, giving Alex a smug grin. “She didn’t seem to mind it one bit.”

I smacked his shoulder. “That’s not true and you know it.”

Jimmy nodded like I was really adorable, telling tales, and that enraged me, but it also set Alex off. He launched himself at Jimmy, knocking him against the wall. He braced his forearm across Jimmy’s chest, leaning his entire weight on him.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Mo tried to jump in, sliding his arms between Jimmy and Alex, but neither man would back down. “What the fuck, man? What’s going on?”

“This guy is a scumbag. He was feeling up Yael right in front of you,” Alex gritted out.

“My hand was on her fucking back!” Jimmy yelled, shoving at Alex’s chest. “Get off me.”

Santiago stepped in too, finally prying them apart. Jimmy stalked to the other side of the room, but I had no eyes for him. I rushed to Alex, my hands flying to his face, his heaving chest, touching him everywhere I could to ensure he was okay.

He leaned his forehead on mine, his fingers tangling in the sides of my hair, releasing rushes of hot breath.

From behind me, my brother pried us apart with his words. “Someone better tell me what the fuck is going on, and it better happen right now.”
