“Are you doubting me? Do you not think I know every single word to that song?” she asked.

Raising my eyebrows, I gave her a challenging smirk. “No, I don’t think you do.”

Tali cleared her throat and stood, leaving her empty plate on her seat. She moved to the end of the aisle so everyone could see her.

“I can’t sing without a microphone,” she said.

Jay passed her a banana, which she held up to her mouth, laughing. Then she started to sing. It wasn’t great, but damn if I couldn’t take my eyes off her.

“If you’re horny, let’s do it…” She rolled her hips like Ginuwine, singing about riding her pony. Everyone sang the chorus with her, which was the only part of the song anyone seemed to know.

She was...incredible. This wasn’t the Tali I’d been getting to know again over the last few weeks, but she also wasn’t the same way she’d been in college. She was showing another side. A side I really fucking liked.

At the end of the song, she bowed to her adoring fans and returned to her seat next to me, laughing.

“I think I’m going to retire and go out on top,” she said.

“I think that’s a good plan.” I smiled at her, tracing my eyes over her pink cheeks and shining brown eyes.

Michaela got up and sang “Sex and Candy,” and Tali happily passed her the banana. I couldn’t take my eyes off her, even as we both sang along with everyone else. Her gaze kept drifting back to me, and she’d give me a ghost of a smile each time.

Michaela flopped down on her seat, inadvertently pushing Tali closer to me. She laughed at being jostled, steadying herself with her hand on my thigh.

“Your bus is so much more fun than mine,” she said.

“Oh yeah? What would you be doing if you were on your bus?”

She took her hand back, using it to comb through her long hair. “Did you know this is the first tour I haven’t traveled with the band? Between the last time we toured and now, they’ve all gotten married, so our rides have been rearranged. Which is fine. After a show, I’d normally hide in my office in the rear of the bus until they passed out, then went to sleep myself. On this tour, I’ve been riding with Michaela and three other women. It’s been so incredibly mellow, which is nice, but…”

“You miss the action?”

Her lips curled into a soft smile. “I do.”

Before I could make an ass of myself by inviting her to keep riding with us, Hector got up and did a Hawaiian-inspired rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Dirty.” He only knew about half the words, but he really committed to his performance.

“I think it’s Jude’s turn,” Hector said as he sat down.

I groaned. “Really?”

Hector didn’t back down. “I just did the hula while singing a teeny bopper song. Pretty sure you can step up to the plate.”

Tali gave me a shove. “Let’s see what you can do.”

Instead of getting up, I borrowed Hector’s ukulele and played it from my seat. Turning to smile at Tali, I sang the only song I knew by heart that was solely about sex. I started out teasing, but Tali’s eyelids grew heavy and her lips parted a bit as she watched me. By the time I got to the chorus, the other voices singing with me faded to the background.

“You. Your sex is on fire…”

The delicate golden wings she wore at her throat bobbed when she swallowed. She didn’t even attempt to sing with me. It would have been the end of me if she had.

When I played the last notes, applause broke out, along with a couple wolf whistles.

“I’m going to need to take a cold shower. I see why you were famous,” Michaela said, rising from the bench.

Jay got up too. “Need help finding the bathroom? I’m headed that way.”

He followed her as she muttered about not getting lost on a damn bus.

After that, everyone pretty much dispersed—everyone except me and Tali. She did scoot down the bench, sitting sideways to face me, bringing her legs up between us.
