“Damn, man!” Lock jokes, and he and Anton both set their knives down.

A loud thud comes from the living room, and we walk toward it, cocking our weapons back in preparation for…anything.

Peering out, we see Liam, sporting bloody knuckles, standing above the gunman.

“The fucker wouldn’t answer,” he says through heavy breaths.

“He gave younothing?” I ask, not trying to hide my disappointment.

We all relax and meet in the middle of the room, letting our weapons hang by our side.

“He wouldn’t stop fucking laughing. I was getting so damn livid,” he says as he shakes his hand and stretches out his fingers. “Fuck,” he says, cringing.

“Shit, man, did you break it?” Lock asks and walks toward the bloodied gunman.

He kicks him and bends down to feel his pulse. “He’s still alive, but damn, he’ll wake up with onebloodyheadache,” he says, mimicking Anton’s accent and snorts.

I go over to the man with a shattered kneecap and the bruised eye and double-check if they’re still knocked out. Mirroring Liam’s approach, I’m reassured. So, I pat them down, checking their pockets for any type of identification or clue as to where the fuck Alphonso is.

And Mysti.

“Did you find anything on them?” Anton asks, nodding his head toward the men surrounding me.

“Nothing, except for this hotel key.”

“What about you?”

Anton reaches for the gunman and rummages through his pockets, feeling his shirt and pant legs. “Nope…nothing.”

Anton and I both jump when we hear a door slam, and we whip our heads toward the front door. I can feel both of our hearts sink and our hopes deplete when we’re met with nothing.

“God fucking damnit!” I hear Liam shout, and him and Lock appear in the living room. “Nothing, no one. Other than a few shambles and a broken window. And that could’ve easily been from last night.”

“Fuck!” I run my hands through my hair and bend forward, feeling like I might puke.

My adrenaline is wearing off, and knowing that Mysti isn’t here makes me sick.

“We’ll find them.” Anton bumps my back with his good fist. “We have to fucking find them.”

“It’s Vegas. They couldn’t have gone far, and luckily, I know this place like the back of my hand,” Liam reminds us.

“Then, let’s go. We can’t waste another fucking minute. Who the hell knows what Alphonso is doing?”

I swear, every time I take one step closer to Mysti, I’m thrown three giant leaps back. But this time, it’s more than my feelings involved, it’s her fucking life.
