“Yeah, Callum, that was a strange request right at this moment,” I said gently. Callum laughed and shook his head.

“No, it’s not. He said you were broken, and that’s not true. We found each other for a reason and we belong here. We belong together. Let me mark you as pack, I need to know you’re protected and that you’re staying,” he pleaded.

“So you think I’ll run? Change my mind?” Holt asked.

“No… Yes… Maybe?” the alpha said as his hands tightened in his hair. “Things are crazy, and I can feel the pack as their alpha. I can’t feel you, Holt. And I’m trying to hold back, to respect boundaries and what you experienced, but hearing you say you’re broken and fear of being an outsider. I want none of that.”

Holt studied him, then me.

“I’m on his side. You’re ours now. Pack and our mate,” I added.

“You want me too?” He gestured to me, then himself, like I should find him lacking. I circled him slowly, tapping my chin for dramatic effect.

“What I see is one of the strongest men I’ve ever met. One that intrigues me as well as turns me on. You’re beautiful, even if that’s strange to call a man, but it fits,” I said, stopping in front of him. “We want you, Holt.”

“Then bite me,” Holt choked out, breathing heavily as my hands teased in the waistband of his pants.

“Can I see you? Taste you?” I asked quietly, giving him the moment to think it over but he nodded his head. His breath hitched as Callum helped him out of his shirt and I helped him out of his pants. I dropped to my knees and both of their eyes darkened with lust. Holt was already hard, his cock impressive and pierced. Something I hadn’t expected. I glanced up as I let my mouth fall open, tongue darting out to lick slowly over his slit. The saltiness of his pre-cum hit my tongue and I moaned before taking him into my mouth.

“Tilt your head,” Callum ordered. His voice was gravelly, a sign his wolf was near. “I’m going to bite you as you come for her.”

He didn’t answer, only moaned as I swallowed him down, then pulled back just to do it all over again. I hollowed my cheeks and teased him with my tongue, giving him more attention than I’d given anyone before. My hands tightened on his thighs as I fought to take his control, to get him to let go. And he did, his head fell back, black hair cascading down his shoulders as his Adam’s apple bobbed. He was no longer still but shifting his hips forward every time I pulled back. Callum put his hands in my hair, urged him to use me, and when Holt finally did, it only took a few moments of me gagging on his cock before he cried out my name, then let out a pained moan as Callum bit down, fangs marking him as pack and ours. I licked him clean before resting back. I was turned on, but we’d accomplished what we wanted, reassuring our new mate that he was right where he belonged.

With us.

ChapterFive

Torryn

Sweat coursed down my body, soaking my shirt as I threw the last of the fallen limbs into the raging fire in front of me. We were on day two of clearing all of the debris from the Bluffs and I was beyond exhausted. It was nice to see the pack pulling together though, a far cry from my old pack.

Not being an alpha anymore was something I wasn’t quite used to yet. Part of me felt like it was wrong, that I’d denied myself a future. But the other side of me knew it was the right choice. Vanya had forgiven me and I was already at home here. Having Harlan, Stella, and Emma working together in the kitchen seemed to help ease the rest of our pack together. It was easy to trust them when some of our most respected members were so comfortable.

“Torryn!” I turned to find Vanya rushing toward me, her voice frantic. There had been so much bad fucking news lately that I tensed immediately. “Someone found a hex trap in the woods and with tomorrow’s run, we’re afraid there are more. Everyone is fanning out to help check.”

“On it,” I promised. She gave me a quick smile before rushing off to recruit others, and I headed right for the woods closest to me. I was at the back of the property, the thin stretch of woods by the cliffs. But if they were going to hex someone, it would be here where they could easily cause the most damage.

As I searched the ground, waiting for that familiar brush of dark magic, I could hear others moving through the underbrush around me. One word and they were all pulling together, yet another sign that my own pack was doing it wrong.

As the grass and dirt gave way to stone, I tensed. There was nothing visually standing out, but the scent of bitter magic was hanging in the air. Something was nearby.

“Hey, you,” Emma’s cheerful voice cut through my concentration. “How are you holding up.” She could sense the animosity between me and the rest of Vanya’s mates. It was nice to know not everyone was going to dwell on the past, though I wasn’t sure if she even knew about it.

“How’s it going?” I asked, but my focus was still on the ground around us. “Be careful out here.”

“I sense it too,” she said with a frown. The moment she turned, the sun glinted on something on the ground and I reacted without thinking.

“Emma!” I lunged and managed to knock her out of the way, but that also meant I fell right on the rune. Pain exploded in my side as the rune went off, the smell of burning flesh filling my senses as a primal scream tore from my throat.

“Torryn!” Her scream matched mine as the rune blew me into the air like I weighed nothing at all. My screams echoed in the canyon as I plunged toward the river below. For a brief flash I caught Vanya running up, her expression one of grief and horror as she screamed my name. Emma caught her before she could run after me, and for that, I was eternally grateful. There was nothing she or anyone else could do to save me now, my fate was decided.

As I fell to the river below it felt as if it took forever and no time at all. When I plunged into the icy water, I was grateful not to slam into the bottom. The force of me hitting the water was enough to steal my breath as the pain and ice shocked my body, nothing left in me but exhaustion. My last thoughts were of my mate, before I gave into the darkness pulling me under.

Vanya

Torryn’s screamwas one of pain and terror. My body was running on pure instinct as I rushed forward, glad that I hadn’t made it far. The moment I broke through the trees, I watched him fly over the edge of the Bluffs. My scream joined his and I rushed forward, praying there wassomethingI could do.
