Deciding to give her the benefit of the doubt, Elite cleared his throat as he neared the door. If they were on good terms, he wouldn’t have even questioned her. At the most, he would have assumed she was on the phone with a potential customer or family member. It was crazy how unsurety made a person question damn near everything.

“Oh, I think my husband is here. I’ll talk to you later.”

Her acknowledgement of him eased Elite’s mind a bit. If she was cheating, she probably wouldn’t have told the man she had a husband. There weren’t too many men who knew Elite and Supreme that were bold enough to come after their wives. They weren’t in the streets anymore, but they were still about that life and very much well connected.

At the sight of him, Jacintha stood and began to twiddle her thumbs as she smiled. She was beautiful. Just as beautiful today as she was when they met four years ago. Her skin was pecan brown… his favorite shade of the rainbow. Perky breasts and a round ass accentuated her slim frame. Jacintha often kept her thick natural hair protected under wigs. Right now, she had a jet-black unit on that stopped just above her breasts… always drawing his attention to them. She had the prettiest, darkest eyes he’d ever seen and juicy lips that Elite still hadn’t gotten enough of.

“Who were you talking to?” he asked, leaning against the doorframe.

“Just a potential client. You know niggas love to hear the sound of their own voice before spending some money.”

Elite nodded, not really sure he believed her, but also not sure it was worth questioning her. After they had sex a week or so ago, he thought things would get back to normal. They did, for two days. Then, they started to drift apart again. At this point, Elite was sure they both were hanging on to a marriage that needed to be over, but he couldn’t give up just yet. Not like this. Because of this.

“I made us reservations at Flight,” he said. “I tried Ruth’s Chris, but they were booked.”

“For tonight?”

“Yeah. You have plans?”

“No. I’m just surprised. We haven’t gone on a date in forever.”

“I know, so slip on some clothes so we can go.”

She smiled and gave him a quick hug and kiss before doing as he asked. By the time she emerged from the bathroom, Jacintha was dressed in a black sweater dress and thigh-high boots. Licking his lips, Elite stood and adjusted his growing dick in his boxers.

“You look so good you make me feel like I need to change.”

Jacintha chuckled as she walked over to him, smelling like pure soap, and he loved it.

“I mean… I love you in jeans, but it would be nice if you put on a sweater and some slacks. We could take a couple of pictures before we go.”

“Aight, cool,” he agreed, heading toward the closet.

He’d showered before he left a couple of hours ago, so it didn’t take him long to get dressed. As she wanted, they took several pictures, and she wasted no time posting them on her social media. Once they made it outside, Jacintha gasped when she noticed the bouquet of red roses in the passenger seat.

“This is really sweet, baby. Thank you.”

Elite dropped a kiss to her lips, then helped her into the Bronco. Their ride to the restaurant was done in comfortable silence when they weren’t singing along to the songs on his date night playlist. Upon their arrival, Elite released a shaky breath and prayed silently that their night would end well.

Jacintha

“This is crazy,”Jacintha muttered with a shake of her head.

She’d been talking to Henry daily, and he offered a distraction, not just to the staleness and tension within her marriage but the progress Elite was trying to make too. With his random flowers and dinners, it was hard for Jacintha to ignore his desire to make things work between them. But as of now, there was a new man vying for her attention, and the newness of her budding bond with Henry was making it difficult for her to focus fully on her husband.

In those temporary pockets of pleasure, Jacintha thoroughly enjoyed talking to Henry. As soon as the conversation was over, she’d immediately regret it. Tonight, she mentioned the fact that she’d be at a bar in Southaven… a good forty-five minutes away from her home… in case Henry wanted to show up. As she waited for him, her leg shook under the table. Every so often Jacintha tried to give herself reasons to take her ass home. But the pros outweighed the cons of seeing him.

Needing to keep her head and not her heart in the game, Jacintha called Bianca for encouragement. Bianca hadn’t always been pro-cheating, but after getting her own heart shattered by a man who swore he loved her and saw forever in her eyes, her perspective changed. The once over romanticized lover had hardened toward the idea of any type of compromise when it came down to the opposite sex. If she wasn’t getting exactly what she wanted out of one man, Bianca would get it from the next—even if she was still with her supposed to be ex.

“You changed your mind, ho?” Bianca answered, making Jacintha chuckle immediately.

“Now ain’t the time to be calling me a ho, Bianca. I’m already considering changing my mind.”

“Whyyy?” she stretched.

“Because, why am I here? Elite has been trying so hard this past week to be present and give me the attention I’ve been craving.”
