“Obviously that’s not enough, or you wouldn’t be waiting for another man.”

“I don’t deny that.”

“Then what’s the problem?”

“Maybe I should just be honest with Elite and tell him it’s not the same for me anymore. I just don’t want to hurt him, B.”

Bianca sighed into the receiver. “He doesn’t have to know. If you tell that man you aren’t satisfied with your marriage, he’s going to divorce you. Is that what you want?”

With a huff, Jacintha shook her head. “No,” she whined. “You know I don’t want to lose him. I just… want a little newness and excitement. I want to feel how I felt at the beginning of our relationship. Once I get this out of my system, I’ll be good.”

“So make sure Henry knows you’re married and that he can’t be running his fucking mouth about shit y’all got going on. Have fun. Get that shit out your system. Feel like the bad bitch you are again. Dump his ass, then focus on your husband.”

Jacintha chuckled. “You make it sound so simple.”

“Because it is! Get out yo’ feelings. This ain’t got shit to do with Elite. This is all about you and what you want and need, and it ain’t a damn thing wrong with that.”

With a small sigh, Jacintha nodded. “You’re right. That’s what I needed to hear. You are such a bad influence, but I love you, B.”

“I love you, too,” Bianca replied after releasing a chuckle.

Jacintha’s nerves were still a little rattled, though she was more confident in her decision after talking to her best friend. She downed her strawberry margarita and asked for another one, eyes freezing at the sight of Henry walking over to her.

Henry was the same sandy brown shade as the husband that was waiting at home for her. His skin had a red undertone instead of golden like Elite’s, but that was the only difference. Admittedly, Jacintha found herself wondering how his skin would look against hers in pictures. Shit, how his skin would feel against hers.

If he was just as hard as Elite. If he would be rough with her or tender like her husband. How his lips felt. Shaking her head, Jacintha inhaled a deep, shaky breath. She couldn’t believe she was using a man to make herself feel good about the decisions she’d made over the years, but that seemed like the easier solution.

Easier than saying her baby daddy acted like a baby himself at times.

Easier than saying her years in college felt wasted.

Easier than saying she should have dated more.

Had more sex.

Had more life experiences.

Nah.

She couldn’t acknowledgeanyof that.

“Wow,” Henry said, standing in front of her. “You look better than I remember.”

“Thanks,” she replied, blushing.

“Get up and give me a hug.”

Standing, Jacintha looked around the bar, making sure she didn’t see anyone she knew before allowing Henry to pull her into his arms. Her body relaxed against him, but it hardened when his hands lowered to her ass. The tension released quickly as he squeezed. Excitement caused her heart to palpitate as she tried to pull away from him, but Henry held her close—still. Looking into his eyes, Jacintha swallowed hard.

“You’re not going to let me go?”

“Not no time soon.”

They mirrored each other’s smiles as Henry unwillingly released her. Instead of sitting across from her, he sat next to her, allowing her to take in deep pulls of his cologne. It didn’t take long for her to familiarize herself with the scent. It was Dior Sauvage.

“You smell good,” she complimented, leaning into him.

“You do too.” Henry wrapped his arm around her, allowing her to rest on his chest. “Like you just got out of the shower and didn’t have to do shit else.”
