Lowering herself to the carpeted floor completely, Jacintha balled her body up in the fetal position as her cries grew louder. Not just for herself but for her unborn child. Because as angry as she was with Elite, what he’d said was true—shehadcheated on him. She would have to get in touch with Henry again and hope he wanted to be a part of their child’s life now that Elite knew. Because now, it looked like she’d be raising this baby that she desperately wanted with her husband, alone.

??????

Jacintha found herself back at Henry’s hotel room, grateful he hadn’t left yet. Saying things didn’t go well with Elite was a gross understatement. Elite was going to leave her—Jacintha was sure. While she wanted to fight for her marriage, Jacintha had done the only thing Elite asked her not to do. Her pride wouldn’t allow her to try to get back in his good graces. At this point, her best option was to try to secure a relationship with Henry so she wouldn’t have to raise this baby alone.

All she could do was chuckle as she knocked on the door. She was already unhappy over being a mother of two, even though she loved her twins and wanted to be a mother. For a while, it was all too overwhelming. Now… she was about to haveanotherbaby.

Confusion covered Henry’s face, but he smiled at the sight of her.

“What are you doing here?”

“Can we talk?”

Nodding, Henry stepped to the side and allowed her entrance.

“Wassup?”

Setting her purse on the dresser, Jacintha sat on the edge of the bed.

“You said you’d be in the baby’s life if it wasn’t for Elite, right?”

His head bobbed. “Yeah.”

“Well, you don’t have to worry about him anymore. Apparently, he had a vasectomy, so he knew the baby wasn’t his and that I cheated. We’re getting a divorce.”

She expected him to smile or say something slick, instead, Henry sat next to her on the bed.

“I’m sorry to hear that.” He took her hand in his and kissed it.

Gritting her teeth, she blinked back tears. “I want to say it’s fine but it’s not.” She released a shaky breath as her head shook. “I did this, though, so I can’t be mad at him. All I can do is plan my next move, which is why I came here. If he’s going to be out of the way, we can be together and raise our baby.”

Henry released a soft chuckle and licked the corner of his mouth. “That’s… not going to work, Jah.”

Her brows wrinkled as she turned slightly to face him. “Why not?”

“I’m married.” Her heart dropped. Jacintha expected him to have a girlfriend… not a wife. The thought of her helping him break his vows to another woman hit her in a place Jacintha didn’t expect it to hurt. “I can’t have no kids outside of my marriage. I’ll lose my wife.”

She laughed, anger brewing. “You obviously didn’t care about losing your wife when you were fucking me.”

Clenching his jaw, Henry stood and shook his head. “Don’t speak on things you know nothing about,” he warned. “Now this was fun, but shit is getting a little too real. I can’t have a baby on my wife. If you don’t want to raise it alone, I would suggest you get an abortion.”

“Wow.” Jacintha chuckled as she stood. “Show me who you really are then.”

“Aye, I’m the same man.” Henry’s hands lifted in surrender as she took steps away from him. “But I’m not letting you pin that baby on me. Get an abortion and forget this ever happened, Jacintha.”

“Fuck you, Henry!” she roared, turning to face him. “I just lost my husband because of you, and you think you’re going to get off scot-free? I’m not killing my baby, so you can be in his or her life, or I will tell my husband about you, and you can risk losing yours. Then maybe I’ll find and tell your wife. But you’re not going to walk away from this and I be the only one who suffers.”

“Are you threatening me?” he asked, closing the space between them.

“It’s not a threat. If you don’t plan to be in our baby’s life, Iwillmake you suffer.”

Henry chuckled and circled his tongue over his cheek before his fist connected with her eye, causing her to fall and hit her head, losing consciousness instantly.

Denali

Grumbling under her breath,Denali tossed her phone into her purse as she headed out of the mall. It was a last-ditch effort even calling the father of her children at this point. Blaze had been ignoring her phone calls all day, but Denali had to at least try. She wanted to work a double shift at Femme Lux Boutique, but without a sitter for her kids, that was impossible.
