“I’ve never met a woman who posted a dating profile for her husband.”

Faith smiled softly, looking through her folder of prospects. When she found the woman’s picture, she nodded in approval.

Dena.

She had been one of Faith’s favorites.

“Well, honestly, this is the only thing keeping me busy and in good spirits.”

“I get that, but I don’t know if I could handle finding someone else for my man. You don’t feel possessive of him?”

Faith shrugged. “Yes, but he’s a person… not an object for me to possess. No matter how much we hate the thought and truth of it, no one lives forever. We are on borrowed time to live and love. If my time is coming to an end, it is my duty to love my husband as fiercely as I possibly can before I go. I know Sincere well, and he’s not going to try to move on after I leave. So even if I plant a woman in his life in the form of a friend that will eventually lead to more, I will be content with that.”

Dena smiled. “That makes sense. He’s lucky to have you.”

With a smile, Faith shook her head. “No. I’ve been the lucky one…”

Sincere

Sincere couldn’t rememberthe last time he’d drank enough to feel tipsy, but tonight was definitely that night. All eyes and cameras were on him as he danced with a woman old enough to be his grandmother. He laughed the whole time, feeling more relaxed than he had all week. Truth be told, he hated leaving Faith at home, but he definitely needed the escape. The aura in their home had turned solemn and he needed a break.

Once their dance was over, he took the shot Brandon offered him before going back over to the bar to get another round for their table. His eyes lingered on the bartenders’ breasts more than he would have allowed them to normally, but he couldn’t help it. Like any other man, he was stimulated by what he saw, and she was fine as hell.

“What can I get you?” she asked with a smile.

“Another round for my table.”

With a nod, she grabbed the Jack Daniels they’d been drinking all night. “Got you. I’ll bring it over in a sec.”

“I’ll wait,” he offered, inhaling a deep inhale of her intoxicating scent. It was warm… and inviting.

She chuckled, pouring him a shot. “That’s on me. You must need a break from your crew?”

Sincere laughed softly as he accepted the shot. “I appreciate this, and yeah, I do. I love them but I ain’t used to this shit no more. It’s time for me to get my ass home.”

She laughed a little harder. “I feel you. You got a wife waiting for you?”

Sincere looked down at his left hand absently. His wedding ring had mysteriously vanished, and he was sure Faith had hidden it to keep him from wearing it while he was out.

“Yeah,” was all he offered, unable to deny the brief sadness that washed over her face.

“Of course.”

He blushed. “I know you’re not looking?”

Leaning against the top of the bar, she gave him a better view of her breasts. “I am.”

“I can’t believe it. You’re so beautiful, I figured you’d be taken… unless you like to remain single so you can have more fun.”

Her smile lifted her cheeks. “I do like to have fun, but I also like to have fun with my partner. I just haven’t found a good match in a while.”

Sincere nodded. “I hear you.” Tapping the table, he figured it was time to cut this conversation short before he headed down a path he’d regret. “After this round, you can pull my tab.”

“Okay, I will.”

Heading back to the table, Sincere released a sobering breath. As soon as he sat down, Brandon told him, “She watched your ass the whole time you walked away.”
