“What is?” She grins, and when she does it’s hard to remember what I was going to say next.

“You and me.”

“You and me?” She cocks her head to the side, the cutest fucking expression on her face.

“It’s you and me now. No more secrets. No more lies. And no more disappearing. Think you can handle that?”

“I think I’ll manage.” She crinkles her nose. “Does this mean I’m your girlfriend now?” she teases, shoving at my shoulder playfully.

“You got a problem with that?” I challenge.

“Does it look like I have a problem with that?” She gives me a knowing look. “I’m going to lose my hair, you know that, right?”

“And so what if you do? I don’t have anything against bald chicks.” I smile when she shakes her head at me.

“You just can’t help yourself, can you?”

“What do you mean?”

“You always have to say the right thing.”

“It’s a gift.” I lift her hand and gently kiss the back of it.

“Okay, maybe not always.” She giggles and I swear it’s the sweetest sound I’ve ever heard.

There’s a soft knock on the door and both of our gazes swing toward the door right as it opens.

“Fin.” Claire peeks her head in hesitantly, her gaze going to me before sliding to her sister. “Hey, sorry to interrupt but it’s time for your medication.” She steps into the room carrying a glass of orange juice and a medicine cup.

“Thank you.” Finley takes them from Claire, emptying the cup of pills into her mouth before drinking them down with the juice.

“You two need anything?” Claire asks, taking the cups back from Finley.

“We’re good.” Finley relaxes back against the pillows.

Claire gives me one more sweeping glance before she turns and quickly exits the room.
