“With my life... Apparently. At this point, I don’t have a choice but to trust him.”

“I don’t like this.”

“Given the shit that went down the other day, I don’t like it either. But this needs to be handled. I’ve been too far removed for too long as it is. My men need to see my face. They need to know that I’m still in charge.”

“Is it something you can tell me about?”

“Mila.” I already know that means no.

“Well, if you won’t talk to me about it, is there something I can do to take your mind off of it for the time being?” I ask, not missing the sexy smile that crosses his lips when he lifts his head and looks up at me.

“Now that you mention it.” He pushes upright, using my leg to tug me to the center of the bed before crawling on top of me, trapping my waist between his thick thighs.

“And just what do you think you’re doing?” I tease, gently running my nails up and down his forearms.

“Taking my mind off of it.” He leans down and kisses me slow and deep.

“Is that so?” I murmur against his lips.

“Uh huh.” He pulls my lower lip into his mouth and slowly drags it between his teeth. “I’m supposed to be focused.” He kisses the side of my mouth. “But lately I can’t seem to think of anything except this.” His lips brush the side of my neck. “The way you taste.” He flattens his tongue at the base of my throat and licks up to my chin. “The way you smell.” He buries his face in my hair and inhales deeply. “The way you feel beneath me.” He draws back and looks down at me. “You are the worst kind of distraction, little bird.”

“The worst?” I tease, my skin warming under his gaze.

“The worst.”

“I’m not convinced that’s a bad thing.”

“Neither am I.” He silences me with another kiss, flattening his body against mine as he grinds his erection into my leg.

I don’t have to guess what he wants. Because I want it too.

And in this moment, I’m more than happy to give it to him.
